Need: provides a soft counter to "boated" weapons. Addresses high-alpha sniping, "AC40" builds, boated medium/small lasers. Does not involve "randomness" or weapon-specific nerfs. Increases general survivability without increasing the amount of damage needed to kill a mech.

Mechanism: small delay (1/10 of recycle time, rounded up to the nearest 1/10 second) between initiating firing of each like weapon. Exemptions for machine guns and flamers since they are high RoF / low damage weapons and I would be surprised if the game tracked events in 1/100th second increments. Do not apply this to the "Ultra" aspect of a UAC firing cycle.

Drawbacks: This breaks the Nova, the Bane, and the JM6-DD with 6xAC2, possibly others. To resolve this, allow pairing of smaller weapons (2 crits or under) to fire together within this framework. This allows lasers and small ballistics to keep some degree of focus as well.

Variations: longer delay/more weapons in a group? Pairable 3-crit weapons? (I like my ERPPCs). Ability to pair (cluster) more than 2 weapons if they're all in the same location (Swaybacks, Novas, etc) or perhaps restrict pairing/clustering to weapons that are in the same location?

Bonus: provides another facet to 'customization'. Allows for approximation of macro firing for those lacking the skill or interest to address macros. Cascading fire from an alphastrike may look good. If recoil is implemented, this may make it very interesting for ballistic weapons.

This has to be either all [with the exception of UAC cooldown timer] or none OP... because letting "smaller" weaponry be exempt from this, causes those weapons to then be considered OP due to change in overall weapon mechanics.

I'm all for this. Or even sectioning "Firing groups" into seperate firing ques.

There's a lot of potential here, but I'm sure you'll hear some people who disagree entirely.

I may not have been entirely clear - the thought was to fire "smaller" weaponry in groups of 2, or maybe 3 - so you can shoot an AC20, or 10 (maybe 15) damage worth of medium lasers in a similar timeframe. AC2, lasers, etc are in no way "exempt" and the only (current) weapons that could be considered such are the Flamer and the MG. In the future, maybe the RAC family.
