Customisation is key in this game.
Also a drag and drop feature (like moving tabs in IE9) to shuffle mechs around in a tab, because honestly I *dont* want more than 6 mechs to a tab since dragging sliders is a pain in the ***.

Please, PLEASE make the order of the mechs changeable.
By the way... there would be enough space on the screen to show more than 1 row of mechs.
Just make the size of the menu changeable and the number of rows auto-adapting, and you could show all of your mechs at the same time without any drawbacks.

If it was sorted similar to the way xp trees are, but leaving a way open for multiple copies of a variant that would be rather efficient. Or combine the two - have the tree method as your main sorting tool, and your bays spread across per type/variant in the fashion it is now.

There is a new UI overhaul coming in early 2013, so I think they'll wait to that point in time before putting effort into adjusting the mechanics of the current (though I do hope better garage maintenance is a feature)

It feels like it takes forever going from one side of the mechlab to the other.
