Lol Garth sounds like a tryhard when he was a kid.

Like most of us were...

I am for real more tryhard than our tryhards will ever aspire to be.

"I'd argue that winning is a skill, and clearly the enemy team has more of it than you."

I can see playing online with children can and has had an effect on someone of your vintage. Then again, those lacking skill often take the path of least resistance. Only an aged surat would consider running and capping a skill.

tourneys should have the cap option removed to pit player skill vs player skill. Such as gunnery and piloting. Not running and hiding.

I'd actually like to see a tourney where instead of focusing on capping, it was about precision shooting/damage. For example, shooting all the arms of x opponents in a single match, or getting y head shots across multiple matches. Not only is this helpful during a battle, but you make money doing it!

Cap races off the bat don't do anyone any favors. You waste time, and your xp and money income rate tanks.

The assault gametype needs some serious redesign IMO.

PEOPLE WHO CAP ONCE THEY START LOSING A FIGHT ARE TAPPING OUT. ACTUALLY, ANYONE WHO JUST STARTS CAPPING AT ALL IS TAPPING OUT.

I MAKE SURE THEY KNOW THAT IN-GAME.

TRYHARDS CAN'T TOLERATE ANY KIND OF DEFEAT, AND GETTING THEIR BUTTS REARRANGED HAS CERTAINLY GOT TO STING.

MEANWHILE I'M ALWAYS A COUPLE OF BEERS IN AND CHARGING HEADLONG INTO THEIR PPC ARRAYS AND STILL MANAGE TO KILL THEM HALF THE TIME. THEY GET KILLED BY A DRUNKARD AND THEY HATES IT SO.

TRY HARD? MORE LIKE HARDLY TRYING. HAW HAW.

Since i don't care bout k/d, i end up making the ultimate sacrifice: staying on home base, preventng cap, while my team caps. I always get to fight. Its always a tense battle against greater odds. And the satisfaction i get when i stick ut to the opposing, cap happy team is priceless.

I like the cut of your jib, would like to subscribe to your newsletter, be your wingman on one of those defend-games.

Different people like different things, and these "stop liking what I don't like" threads are tiresome. Admittedly, "what people like" may slide somewhat to align with a tournament, but without tournaments there are still people that are in it for the win, still people that are in it to get kills, still people that run lights/mediums/heavies/assaults.

If all you want is to fight, and all the other team wants is to cap, that actually sounds perfect for you. Wait on your base, targets will come to you. How easy is that??

If you are annoyed that the rest of your team does not want to play the same way you play, get better at finding like-minded team mates.

Just quit whining that when you PUG, you don't get _your_ dream team.

Idk about you folks, but I'm getting sick of endless cap sessions..
why fight when you can cap.
and you can always just say " a win is a win, if you dont like if find another game"

I guess skill is over rated..

end of rant

If we're talking tournament assault mode here, you could just have your entire team take up defensive positions on or near the base. A straight-up fight would then be inevitable.

I'm on the New Avalon team speak most nights. Drop by and we can get a couple of drops in. Tuesdays after 8:30 pm is a great time cause of the scramble that the Comstar Irregulars run.

IMHO, one of the greatest strengths to MW:O is the diverse number of playstyles it caters to. The replay value for me is directly related to the fact each drop will be against a differant set of playstyles.

Not all of them are easy enough for new players to run, but get a good number of drops under your belt and a person should be good to go.

When it comes to the forums, it does sometimes feel as though people believe the game should only cater to their preferred play style, the rest be damned.

Yup, MW:O is the first game/sport that I have seen that forces people to compete in their tourneys, every other game/sport has it so the competitors compete against the umm competitors, not the people that didn't enter the tourney lol.

Back in my day, we didn't have any sissy matchmaker - you dropped randomly against your enemies, and you went to war! Up hill! Both ways! In the desert snow! At 80 celsius! :D

then why did you implement this affirmative action matchmaker?

As a man of Irish blood, it's in the genes that I must make light of serious things.

And while I agree things could always work better, I think it's a pretty large step to say that it's a less pleasant game. I get dozens of PM's, emails, etc, from people who really enjoy them. So who do I listen to?

Both, it turns out. So I make changes, but they won't be sweeping, and frankly I think they are enjoyed by most people.

I am a man of Irish royalty and one of the 12 original tribes of Ireland. And Im telling you this matchmaker is not fun. As soon as I win our lands back im going to force you as your king to fix this matchmaker. But ill ask nicely for now.

Capping is a good way to pull a team back to an area. "want to keep fighting? have to come here quickly to continue". it has its strategic purpose, especially when there are only a few players left. Problem is people use it for an easy win, I can't blame them though. For those of us who don't have too much time to grind out xp, a 200+ bonus is extremely helpful.
