Hey PGI how about your first remove the current heat penalty before you implement another one? You know the one where my whole mech smokes so much I can't see **** and my frame drops to the abyss.

No, when you heat up you release white smoke, damage is blackish smoke.

White smoke is fine, if it's a real thing. It might be only if you flush your coolant.

It only makes sense that overworked heat sinks would be steaming as they radiate heat into the atmosphere. If this limits your visibility when you're running hot, then so be it. Heat has few enough penalties as it is, so any little thing that makes it harder to play well while at high heat is good.

I don't use (flush) coolant and so I don't know from where would the smoke come from. I don't mind the visibility issues so much, what bothers me is the huge frame rate drop i get from it. It also happens if there are a lot of dead mechs in the same area (they all smoke).
