So I get attacked at the start of a battle by a team mate. I kill him barely. Because he shoots me in the back twice. When the game ends, (we were slaughtered) I get negative stats for a "team Kill," Whats up with that? It seems unfair to defend yourself and get punished for it. Anyone else have a thought on the subject?

First thing is this is the wrong forum this part is for people to talk about the boardgame version of battletech.
Second the penalty is quite light so i dont think its a big problem.

The system as is tries to forgive accidents while encouraging forgiveness by only punishing the person that kills a friendly.
Granted it's flawed since a troll can mess you up bad but not get penalized as long as he doesn't finish you while a legitimate accident with SRMs in close quarters with the enemy can result in a severe penalty.
The system is not perfect.
