I live in the Netherlands as you can see. I was wondering about the ping speed between me and the future mechwarrior server in the US.
With slow speed games like mechwarrior the effect of a little bit higher ping won't matter I guess.... right?
What ping speed is accaptable?

I'm hoping there will be a good method to identify latency.

I also hope (strongly suspect) that there will be a EU server ... The Beta stage will be in North America but the REAL game will be played on local Regional servers.
Also if we buy a founders pack ... they intend to allow us to migrate our accounts from the NA server to our own.
Its not official yet but :

We do not have a final answer on migration. Our goal would be to support it.

About 150-270. If compared with other servers located in US (PotBS, Warhammer online).
In MWO is not very dynamic gameplay should be enough.
Exception light mech, maybe.

In many FPS games I would say 150 or less for optimal, but realistically in your scenario you could probably expect to see 300+ (played a few games in euro betas), which I would say should be sufficient in most cases for this game.

It very much depends on the connections. I've managed to get pings as low as 100 to East Coast servers from UK. Tends to fall between that and 150, if tests show much higher than that I try another game better located.

I typically would agree, tried playing APB during closed beta, only got invited to the EU servers and ran with averages of roughly 300-600 and spikes above 1k. I can still remember pressing a button to turn my car, and waiting a full 2 seconds before it actually started turning. Lag driving FTW...

i remember someone said, the ping to an eastcoast server from europe would be around 120-170ms, which - i can say - is mostly given in any US hosted games that i play... and in a game like MWO an average of 150 should be fine... thats 0.15 seconds (0.3 seconds in both directions if i´m right? not a networking pro^^) , i dont think that will matter too often
as far as i remember, that was not a problem of ping/latency, but with how the driving there worked (something like syncro problems or so)... i had the same with about 150-200 pings, and later with the same ping it worked smooth...

If it runs anything like WoTanks does pings up to 400ms will be quite playable.
