It took about a minute out of my work day to look it up. Actually it's not an Ad Hominem I had to figure out how you think you are playing in a competitive level of MWO which isn't really a thing yet. So I looked you up and drew a conclusion that your personality type would likely turn eating spaghetti into a competitive thing (that might be hyperbole). I then addressed that and then moved on to several relevant points about the map itself.

My team played in both RHoD and currently in last mech standing.
Competitive play may not be widespread yet, but don't pretend that it isn't a thing.

Once we know what map we will be dropping on, it is up to you to tip the balance in your favor with your choice of loadout and tactics. So the seasoned MechWarrior has no favored or hated weapon. They are just the tools at hand. And, like Mr. Natural says, "Use the right tool for the right job."

I thought RHoD only ran in Closed Beta because the current MM was playing havoc with setting up games? Haven't I heard countless bemoaning and gnashing of teeth on these very forums from people who really do want to play MWO competetively about how non-competitive play MWO is? That there really isn't competitive play in MWO at this juncture?
No offense to the people who actually TRY and set up competitions in MWO, but it seems as if the game itself fights them tooth and nail and makes that all but impossible. Not just the MM but all the aspects of gameplay, mechs, weapons, and more.

it IS difficult sometimes, but we've learned to mitigate these problems by dropping at later hours where there aren't as many players dropping 8 mans at once.
we can reliably set up sync drop matches with an overall accuracy of about 60%. it takes about an hour and a half to finish a 3 game match. the problems we face now are nowhere near as dramatic as they were a few months back.
competitive play may not be as healthy as we'd like, but it's definitely out there. we (HHoD) regularly scrim against templars/steel jaguars. we often play against kaos, and have had 2 tournament matches in the past week alone.
i'm actually rather surprised you bothered to do research of ME, but didn't bother to check the status of current MWO competitive play... the latter would definitely be easier than the former.

Part of the issue is that MWO is still very much in Beta. Things literally change every few weeks. Sure a good player can anticipate what most changes will do to the meta but some things really catch you by surprise. I mean if you team spent weeks practicing with a Centurion loaded out with SRMs in the medium position what happened when you had a game on Wednesday and Tuesday's patch dropped the SRM damage? Did people quickly swap things around and hope their hours of practice still applied?

actually yes. that's pretty much exactly what happens.
A good player can't anticipate changes at all... the changes are out of left field, unwarranted, and largely destructive to the overall health of the game.
honestly the best way to predict the next patch is to just imagine the worst possible thing PGI could do for balance, and cross your fingers and hope you're wrong. Spoiler: You're probably not wrong.
competitive play is not in a good state, but it's most certainly a thing.
