http://www.tomshardw...clock,3106.html

They guys from tomshardware made a guide of the CPU to get based on budget and performance

Entry level we see the Athlon II X4 640, Athlon X4 750K & Phenom II X4 965

the AMD FX4300 is a good buy under the 120 USD range

although i find it strange the AMD FX8350 is only comparable to the Intel Core i7 980, -970, -960 or the i3 Core 3225, -3240, -3220, -3210, -2100, -2105, -2120, -2125, -2130

edit

http://www.tomshardw...nce,3427-9.html

seems like benchmark says it all

in conclusion AMD is good for applications which need the all the cores for processing but still not good for purely gaming.

but on a skinny budget AMD is a good alternative over the Intel but as you go up it better to choose Intel i5 or i7.

duo core are only for the dirt cheap PCs

the buyer must be dumb to buy a duo core thinking its faster than the quad core which i did personally encounter

oh look duo core has a faster clock speed compare to this quad core (facepalm...)

Psssst MWO is one of those few games which will eat up as many threads as you throw at it. CryENGINE 3 likes 8+ core CPUs.

But this game also runs on CryENGINE 3, and as poorly coded as it is at times, the underlying code in the engine itself is still optimized for eating threads.

MWO doesn't seem to be using more than 4 of the cores on my fx8320 @4GHz at any given time and even then only about 70% of the power of the cores. Granted I only have an HD7950 so I'm probably GPU limited anyways.

indeed, if his game could use all 8 threads like crisis 3 does, Id probably go and buy that GTX 670+ or 770+ Ive been putting off (this is my primary game) due to the fact that less than half of my cpu does work while I play MWO  .

I could run at playable fps on my m11x R1 back then as well. Ah... I miss being able to play mwo while I sit in lab waiting for something to heat, mix, react, etc.
