This is an interesting statement. As far as I understand it from what little I know of BattleTech, the obvious correlation between the default configurations that are taken from BT, and the way Awesome's worked in previous MW titles; the Awesome was intended as a PPC platform. As implemented in MWO it is a terrible PPC platform. I avoid PPCs on my Awesomes in MWO and stick to weapons easier to use on the go (LL, SRM, LRM, ML/LRGPLS combo). I don't know if I'd consider this a flaw or not but it is interesting that what usually is the obvious PPC platform is now a sure way to die while running PPCs.

well in bt it was a heat sink heavy design makig it perfect for ppcs, of course 3 ppc is a lot more impressive in tabletop then it is in mwo

its really just designed to use very powerful support weapons, not all of them are ppc boaters but they are all very heavy duty fire support (with either ppcs or lrms) but since you can put these weapons on bigger mechs, and more of them, its kind of lost its purpose, well its still great for lrms, but its not very good wth ppcs compared to others

Hi there,
I'm playing this game for several months now and switched between many mechs and different playstyles. Because they were cheaper I first liked piloting lights. My first medium was a Hunchback because in the forums they say "this is best for beginners". But piloting hunchbacks was a disaster for me. I began piloting Cataphracts and I love them for ever. For a short time I had an affair with a X5 but atm were no friends anymore.

I hated my first stalker, because I always got killed by smaller mechs from behind. And I just too stupid to drive a Highlander. I got one and never got a kill for the first 3 days.... I sold it. And now I bought a Pretty Baby: 58 matches, K/D=1.23, W/L=1.07 (2 LPL, 1 MPL, 3 SRM6)

These stats are not "awesome" but they are positive! I have a lot of fun playing with my AWESOME.

The best part is that people dont take me serious. So I get the chance to make a lot of damage. People already stated that you don't have to play assault style. Hit and run and use every part of armor your have.

Also the Cobra Camo looks best on an AWESMOME, trust me!

See You

awesomes can turn a lot further then 90 degrees, especially with basic effeciences

Turning more than 90 degrees is even worse! Then you are exposing your ct from the rear, and that's just asking to get cored.

I've run my 8Q with 3 PPCs since CB and had a fair amount of success with it, at least after the PPC speed increase patch early this year. Unfortunately, the PPC refire rate nerf last month pretty much killed the build; the good news is that PGI forced me to switch to the much more effective quad-PPC loadout to stay competitive, and I have done very well in it, rarely get below 500 and usually 600-700. It's a worse PPC platform than the stalker in every single way, but I just want to say that PPCs are so good right now that they're viable even on the awesome.

The only Awesome I would call successful for me right now is the 9M with an XL (355-380 XL) and 3 PPCs with lasers or SSRMs back-up. Of course I become super-mech when I switch to a Heavy mech. At least for a while until my ELO rises from where it was with an Awesome.

The Awesome lowers your ELO rating after a while, so you start thinking it works. Then you switch to a mech that is truly good and suddenly you are getting 3-4 kills and 3 assists every game. <Truth. Or at least this is what is happening to me now.

Only the 9M...3 ER PPC and 3 Streaks. 370XL. Move and snipe.
If a light mech gets close. Streak and alpha.

Don't try to brawl. YOu'll be cored in 10s.

SEE! the awesome makes someone a great pilot!!!

its not the elo, its you, the awesome makes you a better pilot, and you just proved it, because you have separate elos for different weight classes, so how well you did in your awesome wouldn't affect your elo in a heavy, not to mention its based on your w/l ratio and that's it, so trust me its not the lower elo/your opponents getting worse getting you more kills, its improved skill :)

Took out my almost brand new 9M last night for 1 game (all I had time for).

Top of the leader board for both teams with 2 kills and 4 assists, and came damn close to not dying (died trying to kill the last guy, who my teammates were able to kill after I fell). 790something damage.

Awesome works just fine if you learn to play it correctly. Like others have said, it's not a straight up brawler. Its a flanker, a mover, a shaker. Never stop and never go straight for long, rotate, rotate, rotate.

just curious, is that your first time playing an assault mech? you have to play it more then once to see if its good because because i believe each mech chassis/tonnage class has its own elo rating, i ***** when i first got my 8t, well actually my whole group did because our opponents weren't very good, but then i slowly got back to the same elo as my other mechs

Nope, I've mastered Atlai, and Stalkers already. This is also my 4th Awesome, but only the PB is played similar as the others I have are more support mechs (LRMS). I'm also working on my Dragons right now, which are played in a similar fashion.

That was game 6 in the 9M for me. previous 5 weren't too bad either. Still running the stock engine in it.
