As stated by most people, there will always be cheese, which is why 8 mans should be the place that PGI goes to look at balance. You cannot balance everything perfectly but you can create a complex meta game at that level with quite a bit of variety.



This game is very complex in many different levels but missing the one that allows us to choose weight limits. What if the drop down box for game mode looked like this ?

Conquest 500 ton max
Conquest Any
Assault 500 ton max
Assault Any

Or simply edit the create group

4 Man (200 ton limit)
4 Man (Any)
8 Man (500 ton limit)
8 Man (Any)

Or Just have a random weight limit each week

Here's an idea; If you have a four man squad you go in the que with 8 man teams, if you have two or three you go in the regular que.

Once we get 12 vs 12 this makes perfect sense.

Now, people may say 'I'm just casual and you can't tell me how I should play'.. to them I say 'I think I can so go fly a kite!'

I would love an (optional?) 2-2-2-2 limit and/or a weight limit.

Problem is of ocurse if you dictate too much how people "must" play the game that they drift off, but on the other hand, facing 2 tooled raven and 6 big guys with 3+ PPCs each is just boring.

Let's give PGI some time to listen to us and tweak what's going on before we say its absolutely horrible.

And if you don't like the current state? Leave feedback and take a break. The metrics will show PGI what they need to do.

I think if you increased the c-bills/exp for 8-mans it would encourage more people to play them. This of course sorts out the whole ELO thing as your choosing all your own players.

Also, with more of the top end players busy with 8-mans, the casuals won't be getting 8-0'd as much :)


The only reason why you don't see 8-mans is because of the balance. Yea spend an hour forming a team, finally found a match. Only to spend 15 minutes in tourmaline with some 8man ppc boating trash players... *real fun*

all pgi's fault. its not we need boating plenty, its we need a weight limit/ lobby system. wouldn't have a team of 6+ stalker if u have a tonnage limit of 450. thats around 55 per person a nice avg.

Another thing we can do is all jump on a TeamSpeak, get our 8-man teams together and sync our dropping. This gives us a chance to police our own drops, drop weights, etc. and play together. Will it work 100% of the time, no. Still better than nothing, or getting bitter while we wait for PGI to get around to adding what we want.

i think some of my brigade/group "Robinson Rangers" might be doing some 8 mans in about 15 mins from posting this message.

We could as a community make a meeting hall for 8 man teams, do more to self manage weight limits
