IMO the black paint should reduce heat signatures.since it absorbs light.

I don't own any lights?? and I have one medium I play heavy mostly and I think it would be over powered on the heavier mech. I think it would suit and boost the stealthy scout role of the lights.

The thermal stealth systems available in the BT/MW universe are: Null Signature System, Stealth Armor, and Void Signature System.
NullSig was created by the Star League and lost with its collapse, and was never (fully) recovered by the Inner Sphere (nor is it in use by the Clans).
SA was created by the Capellan Confederation, based on an attempt to recreate the more complex and effective NullSig, and is first deployed in 3063.
VoidSig was created by the fanatical Word of Blake group as a combination of their Mimetic Armor (an attempt to recreate the Chameleon Light Polarization Shield, a Predator-like optical camo system) and their own take on recreating NullSig, and is first deployed in 3070.
As such, it seems unlikely that these systems would be added in the near future.

That is a very creative suggestion. It can also be implemented as a module that prevents you to get detected when enemies are using thermal view
