Hey Developers! Finally got advanced zoom capability for my sniper mechs. Windowed view with 4X enlargement sounds great in theory, but really all the advanced zoom does is increase pixel size. The view is blurry, and distant mechs are barely visible as blobs on the horizon. Advanced zoom in reality is almost useless. Sharpening up advanced zoom would make it worth the 5000GXP and 2 million CB cost. Otherwise right now it's definitely not worth the investment...Thanx for listening!

Should have done a little research before that purchase. Zoom has been garbage since inception. Maybe it will be updated but then it will cost $10.

How about just making it plain 4x zoom instead of windowed? I would think that would be an acceptable solution, yet it's remained with way since its introduction...

In the long run they will need to allow it to have added zoom for our standard zoom function, due to the limitations of the CryEngine a image-within-a-image causes sharp game performance decline (Imagine running MWO twice on your machine, thats about the gist of it) so they tried to get around this by dropping the advanced zooms details to minecraft levels.
This only partially solved the problem, but created another in the form of target displacement (The little red square of your target dosnt always line up properly with your target in the window, making firing around friendlies a pain). For now its broken, but in time they will remove the PIP and just give us the extra level of zoom/tunnel vision.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't advanced zoom initially straight up 4x zoom with no PiP? And didn't this cause a huge QQ scene cause snipers could not deal with the loss of peripheral vision?

Every single scope in every single crysis game has always feature a PiP zoom. I don't know what our devs are talking about, but you can clearly see whatever you're pointing your scopes at in all the crysis games. I've uploaded plenty of screenshots of this many times before.

Yes and No.
It was straight up 4x zoom, however everyone had access to it and prevented snipers from being "snipers". What PGI should do, which means there is exactly zero chance of it happening is, make a normal 5x zoom module and scrap the buggy crap we've been stuck with for months.

I have zero problem with it and it allows me to put rounds on target that I otherwise would have trouble doing with the standard zoom. It's supposed to be digital zoom anyway, so the distortion makes sense.
That being said I don't have any problems if it gets changed either.
