I'd prefer not to see the change in the original post. As a pilot of a stock-style AWS-8Q (3 PPC), the original PPC 'boat', I'm not exactly in a ride that's hard to hit, and having to directly face my opponent at all times with even less opportunity to twist is just going to ruin the one thing the chassis has going for it (a pretty good twist speed). Mechs that don't really mind staring an opponent in the eye the entire time will still be just fine (stalkers), while the Awesome will take a hit to the sack that it doesn't really need.

what happens to the mech that fired the 6 ppcs in 1 round?
Well, let's say the firing 'mech is stationary and at zero heat.
6 PPCs generate 60 heat.
At 30 heat a TT 'mech auto-shuts down, so we need at least 31 Single Heat Sinks or 16 DHS to not automatically shut down.
Even if we (narrowly) miss the shutdown, we still have to
* Roll 8+ to avoid ammo explosion (28 heat)
* Roll 10+ to avoid shutting down anyway (26 heat)
* Suffer -6 Movement Points the next turn (25 heat)
* Suffer +4 To-hit penalty next turn (24 heat)
In short, a 6 PPC alpha is a very stupid thing to try in BattleTech.
