The exact number currently I don't know... but a week back they released the number of applicants and yes, your chances are very slim for a beta invite.

Will it kill PGI to invite a hundred or so forum users?
Will it ruin the data/feedback from beta testers if entire units were invited to beta test the game?
Is PGI aware that a large segment of the playerbase is unit based? And that they are most likely to REMAIN after the first months' new game hype has died down?

Is PGI seriously going to drag this out for another 10 days or so, when many people intend on paying upwards of 60 dollars for early access to the beta ONE MONTH LATER?

Its a damn shame that so many here will indeed pay the $60 just for the chance to get into a game that may very well be a disgrace to the namesake. PGI knows this and are taking advantage of it.

Whats the refund policy if I find the game to be trash come july 17th?

IIRC I read something about 100k trying to get into the beta (might have been forum users, too, but I dare to say that most forum users are trying to get into the beta).

Since this was some time ago I dare to say that the numbers have gone up, so 1.5k keys might give us a chance to get in of about 1%.

i do wonder though when they sent out the invite...how long it takes to recieve...seconds...minutes...hours...when they post out invites it would be nice to know when to give up hope so i can stop hitting f5...=(

They should have included a small Battletech Quiz with the Beta Application like World of Warplanes did with the questions about aviation.

not really much point them looking for ppl that CLAIM to have beta testing experiance since thats all it is ... and it would be quite a lot of work to go out and find the records of such =3.... and a lot of ppl might lie just cos they want to get in .... and then theres the fact that its useualy some compleat gameing novice that finds a bug glitch or other problem that all those experianced ppl miss so to be honest its prolly bettter that its compleatly random =3 ......
