Gday all,

PGI, cheers for the highlander – looks great!
A small form-factor assault

However, it has jumpjets.
Therefore…

*AHEM*
*PUTS ON ANNOUNCERS VOICE*

MechWarriors of MechWarrior Online! Prepare yourself! For on the 16-APRIL begins…
THE CHEESENING!!
Where everyone will now be able to build 90! That’s right folks! NINE-ZERO tones of armored poptart!
Watch in amazement how every Highlander pilot in the game blows millions of their hard-earned cbills to fill this assault monstrosity will as many jumpjets, PPCs and Gauss Rifles that the Inner Sphere can muster!

Catchup on sleep! As your matches devolve into 15 minutes of ‘ZZZZZZZZZZ’ as mechs do nothing but jump up and down like tellytubbies!

Then shake your head as these pilots claim they have skill!

‘ALAS!’ I hear you cry!! ‘How may one escape from such cheesy dreariness?’ you ask!
The answer… YOU CANT!
You can merely mitigate it by playing with the Australians! Because after the American’s go to rest their cheese-drowsy heads, the [POPTART] frequency is reduced by up to 80%!!

So prepare yourself!
Prepare for THE CHEESENING!!!

You're making an awful lot of assumptions about something that hasn't come out yet.

The Strawberry Poptarts that we have now are laughable. The CTF-3D does it better. You'll see Highlander Poptarts, but then you can just laugh as you blow them to pieces because they don't get enough air, don't come down fast enough, and are a massive target.

Unless, of course, we get a Highlander that can mount 3x ERPPC and 1x Gauss. Then we're screwed.

To be fair, poptarting is the best thing you can do with the (non-HM) HGN in the current meta. Chop off the left arm, stick crap in the right side of the mech.

Haha yeah. And you know that's exactly the sort of thing PGI would do to make a variant feel unique.

honestly the Highlander seems like a POS, it cant do toe to toe with the atlas or the stalker, and there are heavies that have the same if not higher firepower potential.

Only thing it seems to have is a very fast turn and torso twist speed, and its JJ which take so long to get it in the air its almost a sitting duck lol. ive sniped quite a few of them while they were trying to lift off

Oh, between the 4 variants coming, you can be sure at least one will be able to do that.
Seriously, 3 of them are all Ballistic (AC/10, AC/20, Gauss) SRM6, LRM20, 2ML.
You know they're getting some extra hardpoints to help differentiate.

As to people poptarting in the HM...
Well, I love smashing their faces in with my JJ Brawling HM.

I am surprised there aren't forum threads asking for jump-jets to be buffed. I tried them out on it. 10 tons of useless. As it should be.

Replace hammer with gauss rifles.

I use my jets for sharp turns, and sneaking up a hill i wouldn't normally be able to get up.

In fact, an epic Tourmaline match last night, Raven was heading to base, called him, our own Light moved to intercept him, but he ran off when the Catapult joined our Light. he ended up running straight down to where i was coming up behind him, so he puts a few shots into me and goes up the small hill on my right. Obviously he figured i wouldn't be able to follow him in time to get a shot off.
So i turned, JJ'd up the wall, got over it, and dropped 2 PPC rounds, 1 Gauss slug and an ER LL right in his *** and one shot him right as he got to the edge of the cliff that would of saved him.

I love having JJs on an Assault, lets me surprise them silly people who think big means no maneuverability

You really think so? I have never played a mech that has them. Did a match or two in the HM and quickly decided I could find a better use for the 10 tons. If I could hop over a hill/barrier in it, I would like to; but it doesn't seem worth it at the current weight and slot requirements to get enough air to clear obstructions.

Well

"people will poptart" and "people will complain about poptarting" are probably very accurate assumptions.

im not looking forward to seeing the 733p PPC variant (im guessing 2 energy in the right arm, and atleast 2 in the right torso)
or the 732b (has 3 medieum lasers in the right torso, so that's 3 PPC and a gauss)

these poptars are going to burn my mouth...

I look forward to watching 90 ton mechs slowlly blast off and then slowly fall back down. Good target practice.
