I don't completely understand the damage readout screen and the info I can find online is not clear. Is all armor missing from my rear center torso?

If so then the damage would be:

  • Baby poop yellow = No damage
  • yellow = mild damage
  • orange = heavy damage
  • no border = no armor ??

What does the solid yellow center torso mean?

Yes. The border outline is your armor. The colored interior of each section is your internals. After armor is gone, your internals take damage until they are destroyed and you either loose the section of your mech or your mech dies (in the case of both your legs are destroyed, your head, your center torso, or, if you have an XL engine, either of your side torsos)

To add: Once armor is gone, there is a chance to loose the components in that section each time it takes damage (called critical hits). Also, your armor is divided between front/rear for the torsos, but the internal part is one and the same for front/rear.

Thanks JZ.

They should offer an alternate damage readout screen with bars or percentages beside labels.

To use your own system... Note that the color change is gradual, much like a bar filling up. There's more stages than listed.
  • Brown = 0 damage (full health)
  • Yellow = 99.9%< (health btw.)
  • Yellowish Orange = 74.9%<
  • Orange-red = 49.9%<
  • Red = 24.9%<
  • Cherry red = 9.9%<
  • Black = destroyed.
Comes in two layers. Outline = armor. Inner = creme filling.

Yummy.

The outline around each section represents your armor, while the solid area in each section represents the mech's structure. From the screenshot, it looks like someone hit you in the back center enough to have completely gone through the back-center armor into the center torso structure itself. The front of the mech is still fine.

Solid yellow internal section means you've got no armor and the internals have taken mild damage. The internal block will of course continue to get redder/darker as you take more damage.

It's possible to have damaged internals while still having armor if you cause damage to yourself via overheating/overriding, or damage transfer from anther section (such as ammo explosing from one area carying over to the adjacent area)

There was one in the old games, iirc they're considering adding it.
