Hey guys.
I'm pretty sure that this topic has already been discussed a lot but I can't seem to find a thread about it and I haven't heard about it in a long time.
Are there actually plans to improve the functionality of the Tag Laser? I mean its range has already been buffed which is a great thing. But using it is still very uncomfortable.
There is the workaround to alter the game code so that Tag is constantly on but I really don't wanna mess around with the code of a game just to use a damn weapon system. And I for myself would even consider myself a cheater doin so.
Is it not possible to alter the Tags function so that it is not "triggered" but "switched on/off" by pressing the designated button? Having to press it manually is very uncomfortable in combat and havin it on constantly gives your position away as a scout, which is the very thing you don't want to happen.
It could be even considered to remove it completly from your weapons layout and asign another key to it like the jump jets are used with space.
As I said I'm pretty sure this is not the first time someone asks this but I really wanna know if there is any news or even rumors conidering this topic. Because I think in organised Teamplay TAG and NARC should by any means be like the core mechanics ever. By the way... Narc duration and range should be buffed. Duration just a little but range a lot. Again scouts don't want to approach within 450 meters to their target to place a NARC. Just two steps to far and you're within seismic sensor range. That's... suboptimal i my opinion.

map the weapon group to the left shift key... that makes it easy to hold down all the time.

Buy a decent mouse or keyboard. Some may have extra software for rebinding keys and using macros. You can easily configure it so that your thumb mouse button, for example, can switch weapon groups on and off.

people have been asking for a toggle since they introduced tag...its even been in a couple Q and A's and the response is like most of their 'answers' "let me ask the coders"
i use a mouse script on my corsair m90 and set it to weapon group 5 where the mouse button just spams '5' over and over...not ideal but it works...

on a side point...these are the same dev's that didnt have a mouse sensitivity slider in options until just recently...
i feel like they have ignored simple quick fixes for basic stuff because they get focused on bigger coding jobs...sadly a lot of this stuff could most likely be coded by one guy in less than an hour but seems to get lost in the shuffle

Don't forget...they are working on a complete overhaul of the UI and it's understandable if they haven't done anything to improve the old one. Also, some functions like mouse sensitivity are not really important, because you can always use windows or some 3rd party software to set up your mouse as you like.

Yeah I know that I could use a script or map the weapon group to a button which is more easy to hold while battle. Someone even told me a way to alter the game code so TAG is permanantly switched on. But these are just workarounds and no solutions.
Maybe it is my lack of programming knowledge but I just can't believe that it is so difficult to simply make it being switched on and off instead of being triggered by pressing a button constantly. But as I said I lack a solid knowledge base there.

Also why the hell does it go, "pew?" it's not supposed to be that powerful.

What I want to know is why it weighs 1 ton when it is essentially an item that infantry can carry. Also makes no sense for it to use up an energy weapon slot since it does no damage.
