Massive tonnage and skill disparities are common. The matchmaker loosens requirements in order to ensure you find a match.

These days I consider it a fair match if the tonnage disparity is less than 100 tons. With 200 ton mismatches a nightly occurrence.

When it comes to the skill of the enemy team (and your own) it is a roll of the dice, don't expect it to be fair.

The Elo system does not exist to make a fair game between equally skilled/equipped teams. It exists to make your Win/Loss ratio as close to 1.0 as possible.

Yeh ELO is borked, as testing I created a new player account, on the 1st and 3rd drop EVER for this new account (So basically a virgin player) I was dropped against 4 man teams who have played for a considerable length of time..

Even if you are mismatched 135 tons in weight, sometimes you just gotta tough it out and carry people.

Beat the matchmaker, show it that you will not be held back.

It might help IF the MM at LEAST put 1 pre-made team on both sides and a weight balance.
But sadly MM is getting to complex for it's own good and it would seem player numbers have a lot to do with it.

Closed Beta system of similar size mechs on both teams worked well.
