Can We Has In-Game Comms Yet For Pugs?

But sometimes, when I start, and three players just screw around the home base, or the mediums/lights leave the single assault in the dust to die, or even best: we execute the perfect PUG death blossom, and get picked off by a tight enemy team, one-by-one.
Is anything of in-game comms on the horizon? Is it a pipe dream (after some games, I may actually take a few whiffs of that)?
We can argue balance all day long, but a united lance of four can easily overwhelm any 8-man full of "trying hard to make it work" souls.
I've been told to stay off competitive game play (unless I'm on the beach or golf course) if I'm just stressing out in front of the PC; but there looks to be no other choice.
Am I to fear the death of the PUG community?

To be fair, most of us long time members were screaming about this from day 1. I'd rather they even used Crysis's built in crappy, crappy coms rather than go with none.
It's part of why PUGs are so bad. MW:O is a game that requires everyone to act as one entity (the only other game I can think of that fits that description is Left 4 Dead), so communication is paramount. MechWarrior really does make every person on the field a piece of a greater whole, it's one of it's strengths.. and it's not happening with text.

The public dropships have been empty for months: Presumably, everyone's whom would use TS3 has already joined up with a merc corp/ team/ faction fan club.
I have this notion that community warfare, being about faction matching and play dates will drive people back down into the public dropships … where we will rage about "3PV is Provolone" …

And in-game comms won't change that for one bit. You just get to hear that your fellow copilots are indeed either 12 years old or playing drunk. If that ever gets into the game, I hope it can be turned off without muting the whole game.

Simply having someone prime targets - even if they aren't the best at it - will make a huge impact on PUG games. Massive, in fact. All it takes is someone to call out "Bravo!" or "Charlie!" and a few like minded people to join in to completely redefine how they are played.
Also I believe newbies will able to ask questions easier when VoIP finally shows up, and also anyone that runs off chasing Jenners in an assault will probably get insulted so much they'll stop doing it at least 40 hours sooner.

Agreed about priming targets. I however firmly believe a hotkey for that would be just as good, if not much better. It would also be easier to implement, wouldn't require extra peripherals from players, and would likely be much more accurate and faster to use.
I also disagree on the part that it would be beneficial to lower the bar for insulting your team mates, even if you think it's for their own good.

For pugs they could even just add abitlity for either
A, squad leaders to mark targets that the rest of the group can target with a special button or
b. add 2 new roles that people can take that all they do is mark targets. (probably something for lights to do)
and by "mark" i dont mean oh just go run with a tag laser, i mean "hey im marking delta" so the entire enemy team could be visible and on radar for you but you just hit whatever button they would assign to target marked and boom your targeting Delta instead of cycling thru everything else.
if this is already in game (i've never seen it) then oops i fail.
