Still trying to figure out how to get noticed myself. Beta tested Mech Commander 2 for microsoft, Dc universe online beta, Champions ,A secret world, and tribes ascend was invited to beta but system was giving me trouble so had to decline on those. Computer now upgraded to a decent 3.1 ghz quad from the crappy dual core I had, got new radeon 7770 from the hd radeon 3870 I had, replaced slow router and adapter to something more modern and gamer friendly, just updated my operating system from Vista which runs good after my tweaks to Windows 7 so I am all set waiting for my number to pop out of the machine and I am there.

They say it random the only thing they want you to do is try to have profile at 100 percent, which I am at as is a lot of other people.

Fill out the beta profile.

Then wait. There's nothing else to do yet.

Most people say its totally random, I doubt its TOTALLY random, aside from the fact that very very VERY few things in this universe are truly random, its probably a lotto that pulls certain key demographics into the game to provide max benefit. You need a certain number of people with high end machines, you also need certain amount with crap machines, and some in the middle. You also need very experience beta testers, those who will help find and squish those bugs, but you also need guys who have no clue what they are doing, and have a very real chance to breaking the game. On and on, remember that profile they had you fill out? Most of those questions where probably there for a good reason, and there is no "right" or "wrong" answer, just that then they know who they can pull in that will be able to test a certain aspect of the game, so your best shot at getting in is to be honest, and hope they need a demographic that you fit.

As the beta goes on and on, most of the key roles will have been filled, then they will move to stress testing the servers, its looking like they are getting closer and closer to that step, as they do, it is likely that the invites will be more and more of a true lotto and that your qualifications will have zero to do with your chances of getting in.

I was hoping my machine was good enough to run this, but crappy enough they would pick me, so far no luck =P

I am pretty sure the first of it wasn't random. There are some who used to post daily that now haven't posted in weeks. Either way, griping isn't going to help, as I'm probably on Paul's NO BETA list. Doesn't matter, I'll be on blowing away cappie moderators soon enough.

By adding another 1500 all at once, which nearly doubles the size of the closed beta community, I think you may be correct.

It seems like a good sign to me, even if I never get chosen for closed beta. The important thing is that the game is ready to roll out asap and is well balanced and fun!

One step at a time, even if it sucks to wait!
