Just because someone doesn't play like you, there's no reason to be abusive. They may not be very good, experienced, or even willing to learn to play "better" but it's just a game, get over yourselves. Obviously I'm writing this because I ran into someone today who viewed themselves as more "try-hard" than me. Without tooting my own horn, I'm not bad at this game. Many people recognize me in game, yadda yadda, whatever. I'm running a Dragon to level them up and there aren't any "good" Dragon builds in my opinion, but with the recently buffed machine guns I grabbed a 5-N, threw in 3 Machine guns, 2 ER PPC's and a partridge in a pear tree ( 350XL Endo DHS). Sometimes this is a fun mech to pilot, such as on Tourmaline when you can get into a perch and use your dual ER-PPC's to rain fire down on unsuspecting mechs and call out their movement to your friends on team speak, which I was doing. So our team took a beating at one point and I decided to move in since I was one of 2 remaining mechs and I knew my last team mate wouldn't last. Worth noting that I killed two of the other team before leaving my perch, but whatever. After I drop and engage a fresh Cataphract a team mate begins abusing me in chat about not helping, being a child, living in my parent's basement, not having friends, having never played a "competitive" game before, and "swooping in for easy kills." Now, I'll admit, the Atlas with no center torso armor wasn't a tough kill, and the Cataphract pilot, alhtough fresh, wasn't very good, so ok, they were easy. But the flip side here is that this 3D wanna-be poptart (with 200 damage and no kills) was REALLY upset that my jokey Dragon had done 991 damage and 5 kills with 2 assists. So, anyay, my friends were laughing their rear end's off in team speak over this guy's apoplectic rage, and I'm glad they're still getting chuckles out of it, but I want to remind everyone new and old, that if you don't like the way a team mate is playing, talk to them nicely. Perhaps offer advice and direct them to the forums, but don't rage and insult them. Furthermore, if you can't find any advice to offer, sit quietly and learn by watching.

Sounds like you took it pretty personally. I for one enjoy the abuse and rage of my fellow mechwarriors.

I started out feeling bad about picking off weakened mechs because you get XP for "kill stealing". The longer I play, though, the more this just feels like good strategy/teamwork. Every weapons platform you take down is one less shooting your buddies. True altruism is leaving a HBK-4P with the pod shot off.

I usually ignore a person like that, move on, play the game, work as a team or go alone scouting or going one man army crazy suicide and hoping in the next match, there is nicer or less insulting people haha.

I hate to be the bearer of bad news but, twits like that rarely read the forums and you are mostly preaching to the choir.

It's not that I took it personally, I mean I AM plenty frustrated at his wild ding-battedness, but mostly I want to drive these points home for other players, first Different isn't necessarly worse, and second be excellent to each other.

Oh, I already added him as a friend on these forums for laughs, and he has zero posts, zero topics, zero friends, zero anything so I'm very confident this won't get to him, but it will get to some people, and they may not all be in the choir quite yet so I figured it'd be worth the effort. Plus, over 990 damage with 2 PPC's, I had to tell everyone lol.

Interestingly, if people paid as much attention to their own gameplay as some of them appear to pay to other peoples, PUGs might be a little more rewarding than they currently are.

I usually end up typing QQ at these people. Tell them little girls cry....or my favorite, keep crying like a litle girl, I LIKE IT! Beside reporting for griefing, wwould be nice if we had a universal retort like "QQ noob 'name'" or somesuch for such griefers...I must admit occasionally slip in an ad-hominem back.

Tis sad there are blank blank blank out there. Tis a nice experience when one gets to meet a few of them face to face :(

That is one thing that I really dislike about MWO and that is the lack of CW, in particular the lack of organized drop room for training. That is one thing I enjoyed doing during my Solaris days, dropping into a room with mostly newbies, and if they are receptive, take them through a few drops, providing instructions.

(chuckles) During the initial contact, some would start to bail cause they though they were going to get own until I informed them of why I was there (during that time was either Chu-sa, Tai-sa, Warlord, Gunji-no Kanrei or the Coordinator for House Kurita). At times had to literally provide assurances it was ok to fire on, strip the mech then kill me while pointing out primary areas to target, how to setup TICS and fire those TICS (weapon groups). And it was not only with DCMS but also with other house military's.

Lots of fun to be had. Ignore those whose only recourse is to put down others as their only avenue to making themselves feel better.

I love this post, because I get hit with these when play my Dragons.
The mech screams to be used that way. Swoop in, pick em' off with a sudden barrage...and run!

The best comment though, wasn't a bad one.
Near the end of round, 2 of us left vs. 4 Heavy and assaults, and I popped up out of the canyon and picked off 3 in a row with the ol' LBX.

All I got was a ..."Where the heck did that guy come from?"
Those moments are worth getting the side XL cored every other game :(

Apart from seeing that you made a terrible wall of text (gets annoying to read without the breaks in the paragraohs...Some people find it hard to read without using their fingers :( )

I noted that you never refuted these points though ;) .

But now back from being a sarcasting know-it-all... Yea. as others have written... you get these mouthbreathers everywhere... and behind the anonymity of "teh Intarwebz" they all seem to come out of the woodwork in their unwashed masses.

I'm pretty well-known, but a lot of the time if you were to spectate me or observe me play you'd day I suck. Most of the time when I play I'm playing for fun, not for wins, and don't bother making the best tactical choices.

I met someone earlier in game who complained that his team lost. Big deal, pug matches happen as such.

He was in his AS7-D-DC on the map Alpine Peaks, me in my CPTL-K2 ER PPC configure sniper build. We lost due to cap.

My point is, if you are soloing, expect these stuff to happen. If you really want to win get a 4 man group going.

Hey Aym

One of the things that I find absolutely hilarious is that those people who tend to be the most hostile also tend to be the worst performers in the match. :(

I get yelled at frequently for my illya build...until I hit 600 or more damage in a match.

you didn't read his post did you?

He wasn't complaining at all. He didn't care that they lost or won it was more a reminder to players to not be {Richard Cameron} to each other.

Thank you for quoting me. If you read it, thank you as well. However if you did read it, you missed the point. My point is to enlighten players that different does not equal worse, and a sub-optimal build playing differently should be observed, not berated. Also, be excellent to each other
