I had a death like that yesterday IIRC, in a Jagermech. Was running into cover twisting like crazy and just fell down dead without my post-death paper doll showing any missing sections.

Maybe the engine is somehow taking crits without the section being destroyed?

EDIT: Damnit, Heng just ninja'd me.

hmmm ok, this is the first time this has happened to me since i started playing back in jan...
I wasnt aware I could take an engine crit without the section being destroyed. Will keep that in mind in the future.

You cannot take engine criticals, that was a joke - kind of.

In the TT game all your components could be taken out. Engines, gyros, actuators etc. Each one that was damaged would make the performance of your mech worse as it collapsed around you.

Engines could be destroyed with 3 critical hits which is why XL engines are so dangerous, lose your side torso and you lose 3 engine criticals and so you are destroyed.

PGI has not included engine criticals in the game but the picture makes it look like they have was all.

i dont know about this game mechanics but i know if you override overheating shutdown protocol you might damage your mech. I too had blown engine without section destroyed. In mather of fact i got killed by myself just running around dodging enemy fire. Couple of time i overiden the protocol in middle of fighting and when i moved behind building i blown my engine. :D

Thats kind of what I thought which is why this puzzled me, but I dont know everything there is so thought i may have missed something.

wasnt anything like that, if you look at the screen shot you will see I was destroyed via the engine by another player with plenty of internal structure and a lot of armor left... there was no ammo explosion, no overriding of shutdown .. it was plain and simple fighting and poof.. what you see is what you get.

It seems like the Paper Doll just failed to include the damage caused by that last ERPPC shot... your CT has deep-red health, meaning the status displayed by the Paper Doll suggests you had maybe 5pts or less of internal CT health, and an ERPPC bolt would do it fer ya in that case. This is just my guess, though. I have not encountered an incomplete paper doll for a while, but they are known to exist.

Engines can not *yet* be damaged independently from the Internal sections.

I too have had this in my Highlander and Jager mechs. I don't skimp out on armour and not all my mechs run XL. Which is another thing where is there info on Xl engines easier to take out. They all seem to have the same HP as standards?

that makes a bit more sense but you are color-blind... thats not deep red its light orange bro...
the text for "engine destroyed" is deep red, the arm is medium red. but eh whatever.. perhaps you are right about it not updating properly...

I knew people with low pings were now being penalized =/

they arent eaiser to take out via hps, it due to the fact that you have 3 kill locations rather than 1.

I think its a know bug that hasn't been squashed yet. When a mech goes down sometimes it still reads as active you can target it shoot more weapons at it also know as a delayed kill. Your just seeing the other end of the bug with your internals still intact.

So chances are your mech could still be targeted by the enemy if they pressed R and it would pop up that you were alive when you were really dead.

Its like a lag kill echo. Its hard to explain.
