Why doesn't PGI implement the artillery strike the same way Mech Commander Gold did it.
A gigantic blast radius that deals LOTS of damage and can easily kill most light mechs and cripple mediums BUT is relatively easy to avoid if you move full speed out of the radius. If the player pays attention to the radar warnings showing radius blast and time till the bombarding occurs they could easily avoid the blast but if too distracted/in a fire fight or in some pinch could get seriously damaged.
I think the way MCG handled waypoints and artillery strikes would work for this game. Also, new game modes could come from some of the things MCG did in their levels such as protecting a transport train and possibly having the requirement being 5/15 box carts must survive making to the exit. Lots of good ideas can come from that game. Maybe it's just my way of thinking...
