Last night I finally got around to buying a Seismic Sensor and spent the GXP to upgrade it to the advanced version. Now I realize what everybody is talking about when some have declared it to be pretty much the next best thing to a "wall hack", so that has me wondering if it's even worth it for me to bring an ECM equipped mech to a fight anymore. ECM might still be worth it to protect team mates from LRMs at a distance, and as a soft guard against long range sniping, but a 400meter detection distance is pretty far and also within the optimal range of a lot of weapons.

ECM is still worth bringing into a fight... just dont expect to be a win button it used to be. Many of the ECM players have stopped using it because they cant walz through enemy lines with ease and not expect to be hit...

Especially the Raven players have been forced to adapt and improve their play style a lot.

ECM is still definitely worth 1.5 tonnes and 2 critical slots.

For a light mech - it's a no-brainer. You can cloak your PPC boats so that the enemy cannot concentrate fire on specific components.

For the D-DC: i'm not so sure, because you will get hit with multiple PPCs and your ECM will be turned off for most of the fight. Still, if there are 2 or more D-DC close by it's difficult to shut them all down.

I'm almost glad that the time has come for people to ask this question. It's just a pity that it's asked because there's a new overpowered item in town.

But yeah, it's still a no brainer, on any mech capable of equipping it. It's just 1,5 tons.

If you are in an ECM capable mech but did not bring ECM, then you are a fool. Pure and simple.

The amount of information denial is invaluable.

Also its not like everyone is running BAP, so only thing you have to worry about is getting hit by PPC. Basically its shifted from being the ultimate brawling utility to the ultimate long range stealth utility.

If you can load it, use it.

ECM+BAP+Sensor Range(level II)+Seismic=a great time in a RVN3L

It still shuts off LRMs at range and disrupts any mechs that didn't pay the BAP-ECM Tax.

Not needed in 8s.

Semi useful for pugs.

ECM is _Very_ useful still... Honestly I would say MWO finally got it right; or at least close.

When used correctly, it can protect you and make a scouts job much easier. However there are many ways for it to be countered so it has to be used carefully.

All in all, about right for its tonnage.

ECM is still good for scouts, and still has uses in hiding your team... just not when under heavy fire (as much of it will be PPC fire) and not while close to enemies (as it does not counter seismic).

It's become a situational tool instead of an advantage in every single situation.

ECM is amazing and can still be very frustrating.

And Seismic will be nerfed.

As it should be. Like the old ECM it is an advantage in every situation. However at least it doesn't nullify an entire weapon type. :D
