Will hi guys I have been a victim of this and wounder how many other know about it.
This is how it works.
You are in a Atlas and some one in a Awesome or a Hunchback sneaks in your blind spot. Thy don't shot you but just stand their to preventing you from backing up or moving lift or right. then as you are pin his team mate blow you apart with ether a head shot or strip you of your guns.

I am hoping that collision gets fix soon because this exploit is a pain in the A$$ and the guys doing it are just ###-Holes

Sorry guys I posted in the wrong part of the forum and it seem i can not remove it.

Seems like a legit strategy to me. Being able to walk through mechs shouldn't be possible at all, physically pinning an enemy should be perfectly viable.

If it is going to be possible it should be a mechanic that is explained and properly implemented. Collision in general needs to be addressed but I don't know where that is in PGI priorities.

well it would seem everything is low priority in the eyes of PGI. its my opinion they rushed the open beta before fixing what the closed beta testers found just to get more people in and available to purchase the hero mechs and MC... they have yet to address small things like ingame chat and team balancing, im beginning to create a list of SS where its basically Founders Vs noobs... the game is becoming the Rich Vs. Poor....

Well if you cant back up go forwards :) Plus if you let them get that close its usually game over for you anyway if they are behind you.

Pinning your enemy so a pal can finish him off has been used in warfare for several thousand years (I would postulate since man started having wars) in the real world. I've used it in SCA war fighting. It sucks, but it is legit tactics.

Since it is canon for certain mechs to have rearward firing arcs, they could add that feature. IIRC the Dragon was supposed to be able to rotate the arms 180' to fire into the rear arc. I know the Battlemaster had rear firing mediums, and I know at least two other stock chassis did as well but I can not recall their names at this time. Not likely to be implemented any time soon- if ever, but it could happen. Maybe if enough peeps wanted it bad enough, the PGI elves will make it happen? *cough*

That is a legitimate strategy. Be glad there aren't Catapults or Raven 4X's drop-kicking you. That used to happen a lot (I was one of the people that did it.) Nothing pissed off an Atlas more than being drop-kicked from the air, and then stood on with the Raven 4X's arm-mounted AC/20 fired into the Atlas's cockpit.

This is, of course, the reason my love for the Raven 4X will never die. Say what you will about the superiority of the more advanced Raven 3-L, if the 3-L can't drop-kick an Atlas onto its backside and then AC/20 the Atlas in the eye to kill the pilot then the 3-L is worthless in comparison. :D

Melee in MWO closed beta -- Atlas clotheslines Hunchback.

River Walker, there is a way out of that situation. But you cannot panic.

How to escape from being pinned:

First thing's first, come to a full stop. Immediately turn to face the offending enemy. Press left CTRL. Calmly bring your "o" onto the Awesome's 'visor'. It is very important to aim for the center of the visor horizontally, but the upper center vertically. Fire your arm-mounted weapons.

If you have armlock enabled you must disable it with shift while holding left CTRL.

If on the first try your arm-weapons hit the Awesome's torso instead, let go of left CTRL and aim as high up as you can, then without looking down press it again to aim for the head while your torso is tilted as far back as possible (this raises your biceps up, thus allowing you to overcome the convergence).

If you have lasers, you can kill the Awesome in just a few shots. If he does not die he will back up and free you because if he does not then he will die.

If you have PPCs in your arms you are screwed as you cannot hit him in the head and must try to push through him while blasting him with everything you have.

Blackjack. Stalker. Ravens. Jenners. Anything without elbows could do that.

The Dragon could do that with one arm, but that arm is not supposed to have an elbow or a forearm -- that was added to simplify the arm situation that the Dragon had.

The Atlas K and the Quickdraw 4G are supposed to have rear mounted lasers. The Quickdraw 4H is supposed to have a rear-mounted missile launcher. (Btw I tried the Atlas K's stock variant in Megamek [a virtual tabletop], it rocks. Took out two Marauders, a Crab, and I headshot a Mercury that got behind me. Even got to try a fun concept of going 'prone' and then playing sniper with an arm-mounted ER Large Laser. Can you imagine an Atlas leaping forward into a prone position on top of a hill and firing its laser over it?)

I have been pinned as well, even on lights, as recently as this morning. It is a legitimate mechanism, but it is not implemented right. Treb pins a Jenner whose legs are kicking at 152.4 kph and receives no damage in return...hmmmmm........

Be happy, that used to immediately cause the jenner to go splat and slide across the ground.

Full stop. Reverse away for momentum. Jump. You've escaped. But if you failed to bring jumpjets then well, you sort of deserve to be pinned for being there in the first place.

Was all the low-end PC users crying about how poorly the game ran on their 386-ish laptops. Very little more than medium graphics actually works right now. It was said two months ago that "high end optimizations" would begin in July, so we might actually see "high" graphics.

(Yes you can set high, but compare maximum graphics to medium and almost nothing changes except for drawing distance and some details on weapons.)

To quote Bryan Ekman from ATD 40, "Low-end PCs still dominate the market." Don't worry if graphics get any lower you might be able to play it on an xbox 360.

Still with this recent exterior shot of my Atlas RS, the graphics could be worse.

Shot by Lordred. RS is me obviously.
Find it and the others from last night here. Leave Lordred a like!

It's an ATLAS. A giant, slow moving Atlas. If they need to pin you in order to hit you, they're pretty terribad.

Just wondering, where you able to shoot someone down when knockdowns where in the game? IIRC you could do that to lights/mediums in older MW games while using a Gauss rifle.
