Speaking of, is there a Marik equivalent? Fast cavalry heavy with ballistics?

Nah, not at this time.

Mariks are mostly about rockets when it comes to heavies. Rockets in all flavours and Orions (of course they use things like Thunderbolts and such, but you know... unseen) is the way of FWL in these times. The closest to the Dragon would probably be the SHD-5M, which is unseen.

Though, when you want to pilot a Dragon, there's nothing holding you back... I mean, Dracs do sell them to FWL under the Concord of Kapteyn.

I have my second best KDR on Dragons (twice the KDR than on Quickdraws). I just love the way they play. Before you have to ask, my highest KDR is on a Commando-2D.

And I am totally kidding, Marik and Kurita were never really at odds very often, not exactly being neighbors helped them not have to fight over border worlds :D

Bah, don't let that stop ye. You will always get fine quality Dragons fresh out of production and even with a hand written "thank you for your purchase- Takashi" card. We Kuritans do love our customers :(.

Not sure why. I love mine. My 1C is my most succesful mech in terms of KDR and Wins / Losses. It's also the only chassis that I've mastered where I've kept all three variants because none of them suck (at least imo).

1C - XL300, 4ML, Gauss.

Gauss in the arm makes it a very versatile hit n run striker

5N - XL300 2ML, 3x AC2

Good speed, lots of Dakka. Great for being an armour shredding support mech. 6-700 damage rounds are not uncommon for me in this mech.

FLAME - XL350, 4ML, 1 Gauss.

2 ML in each arm. torso mounted Gauss and a top speed some mediums can only dream of, make this an absolutely superb base defense and light mech killer.

Honestly, I really don't understand why Dragons aren't more popular. Perhaps their role is a little niche for some peoples tastes, and their hardpoint configurations mean boating PPCs or LRMs isn't possible, but I think they're massively under-rated.

Because they fall firmly into a fast striker / fire support role mech. As such they need to have 1)better awareness of the field of battle 2) better knowledge of the capabilities of their own mech and their opponents. 3) they are rather lightly armored at the lowest end of the Heavy scale. Most don't account for this and play like they are in an assault of a front armor heavy Jager. 4) points 1 and 2 lead to needing to be at your absolute best at being in the right place at the right time with the right amount of friends acting as a force multiplier. IF you can do that they excel. If you can't their results are desultory at best.

Apparently, since you're going to buy so much stuff from them sooner than you'd like... did I mention we're going to be at the head of transfer and getting paid for it by both sides?

That's the kind of thing you don't usually disclose to the suckers... I mean trading partners...

Lol, that's a little too lorecentric for me.

Why not just play it, because you want to, and not because 'lore-roleplaying.'

So nothing wrong with the mech then, just the way people generally try and play them.

Thought so.

If PGI uses most of the mechs in Technical Readout 3050, it will be very difficult to make all mechs relevant. The Dragon is what it is and not much is going to change it. A CT that cannot be missed and unbalanced hardpoints for most models. It was like getting a root canal to get my Dragons elited with the exception of the Flame. It is by far the best variant and probably the only good variant available.

Oh, I will. Mostly just making conversation man.

But, for CW, I do hope they limit houses to 'canon' mech selection somehow, with Mercs having a bit more leeway bringing their own mechs and such.

This is the part where you make a FRR account just to play Dragons.

Dragons suffer because of their hitboxes. Quickdraw can get away with it because of jumpjets, and it can torso twist effectively *and* shield itself with the arms. Dragon can do none of that. Sad too, as i love the things.
