Just a refresher since folks don't like Sarna or don't quite understand what it says:
Unseen: 'Mechs whose images were removed from publication.
Reseen: Unseen 'Mechs that were redesigned. Almost all of the Unseen had Reseen versions.
VMI: 'Mechs whose images were created by Victor Musical Industries.

"True" UNSEEN were taken from three Japanese animated series; Crusher Joe, SDF Macross and Fang of the Sun Dougram. Most of these designs were heavily modified by Duane Loose but they were were still recognizable when compared to their source designs.
Crusher Joe: Locust, Corsair (ASF), Samurai (ASF), Sparrowhawk (ASF), Galleon (CV), Leopard (DS)
SDF Macross: Archer, Crusader, Falcon, Firebee (BD version), Hornet (BD version), Longbow, Marauder, Marauder II, Ostroc, Ostscout, Ostsol, Phoenix Hawk, Phoenix HAwk LAM, Rifleman, Stinger, Stinger LAM, Valkyrie, Warhammer, Wasp, Wasp LAM.
Fang of the Sun Dougram: Battlemaster, Goliath, Griffin, Scorpion, Shadow Hawk, Thunderbolt, Wolverine.

"Collateral" UNSEEN were created by VMI for Battletech. Unfortunately, these artists also worked on many anime mecha shows so the styles were often similar. This merely added to the confusion. Similarities to precursor 'Mechs is often questionable. Their legality and source of inspiration is debatable. (For example, the Behemoth is often paralled with the Monster from SDF Macross. This is dubious at best. Likewise, many of the IIC versions look nothing like their namesakes.) Nevertheless, the decision by FASA/FP/CGL to henceforth create all future images "in-house" and to be solely owned, placed these images into doubt.
Victor Musical Industries: Behemoth, Galahad, Goshawk, Grand Crusader, Griffin IIC, Hellhound, Howler, Kraken, Locust IIC, Marauder IIC, Nexus, Phoenix Hawk IIC, Raijin, Rifleman IIC, Shadow Hawk IIC, Warhammer IIC, Viper, Vixen.

By 2008 there was talk of an agreement that would have let some of the Unseen images be used again. That deal fell through and CGL decided to return to their "in-house only" policy as of 2011. This brief window of un-Unseen has only further muddied the waters.
