If we had viewable Elo I think it would be acceptable.
Viewable ELO is just as worthless without the knowledge of how you got your ELO. For starters, you have at least 1 ELO per weight class so which one(s) do you show or is it blended. Then there is the question about the number of matches you played for each of your ELO scores. Of the those matches, how many were 8 mans, 4 or less groups, or PUG. Of the matches that you played, how many were "directed" to a particular game type (i.e. Conquest, Assault) via the UI to exclude a particular type. All of those factors need to be taken into account and then you need to aggregate those values across players with similar profiles to see if you are in the norm or an outlier.
The reality is that what builds are viable depends on your play style. If you run a min/max build from 8 man teams in a PUG and that build requires help from your teammates you are in for some frustration. The build that you drop in with a 4 man team will most likely not be optimal in an 8 man setting. Finally your PUG build will need to be tweaked if you run with a group.
You cannot try to balance this game around 1 particular play style because it messes up the other styles. People with higher ELO are not automatically "better" at the game, just the version that they choose to play.
