What exactly is a Phoenix BattleMech? How is it different from the standard variants? Are they like Hero 'mechs? Champions?

So... if it turns out my worries are unfounded, then I'll be getting this because you've made an awesome game and all and I can afford it, but first I want you guys to know that as much as it may promote early adoption and all that, time-limited content is BS of the highest degree. Founder mechs are okay because they're just reskins and boosts attached to standard variants, and hero mechs are okay because they're (presumably) never going to go away, but the wording on the pre-order page makes it sound like the Phoenix variants of these mechs will only be available while this deal lasts. I'm hoping when it says "Project Phoenix will be available for a limited time only and once vaulted, these packages will never be made available again!" it only means the profile content and package deals on the mechs, because making a variant inaccessible to players who didn't have the good fortune to hear about this awesome game until a certain event is over is pretty much the most infuriating scheme I've ever encountered in the gaming business. I JUST got burned by Riot because I literally did not have the free time necessary to get 10 wins during their ridiculously short Freljord event, so please let me know that that is not actually the case, and that this is a limited time offer on the prices and badges only.

EDIT: Also, I want to get the Overlord tier but the Talon badge is the coolest (and most appropriate for a proud member of Clan Snow Raven) D: Any chance we can have all 4 badges and choose which to show? :3 Pretty please?

EDIT 2: Well I found the FAQ related to the sale and read the bit that Phoenix variants are basically founders variants. Just a reskin and booster, which is acceptable. I'll leave this post as my personal feelings about any thoughts you may have of time-locking variants in the future.
