I'm not really sure where the negativity is coming from. Its not like they decided to pull people off of community warfare and other tasks so they could release these mechs to make a quick buck. They are doing what they have always done, release a mech and map roughly every month (with the hope of speeding this up). They just decided to make some of those mechs the unseen, nothing has significantly changed. The people that make the mechs aren't the same people that do weapon balancing or netcode or create maps, ect.
They also are doing what they have always done by having a 'hero' version and standard c-bill only versions. The only difference is that they force you to buy the hero versions more or less in a pack and the opportunity will only be available for a limited time. But in return they give them at a group discount plus you get a lot of extras.
Now, I could understand some anger if they required you to spend real money to get these mechs, but they are releasing c-bill only versions of all of them, just a bit later. I guess its just the nature of the internet to complain.

That's what I'm wondering, too. I'm guessing yes.
And since those "six ready mechs" were mentioned months ago, I'm hoping there might be more by now. There must be, now that we know PGI is holding back on the announcements in order to stave off customer departures. Madcat must be hanging around somewhere. Perhaps they've even managed the Marauder and Warhammer IIC variants.

I have spent a TON of money with you guys, I loved (key word here) this game, and I am still partial to it. Every other patch has made this game worse and worse for me, to a point where I no longer log in anymore. I refuse to give you guys another penny until you finish the ******* game you have already. Is it too much to ask for community warfare? Perhaps the Final UI you are going to use ingame. Oh what about he rest of the maps promised? Or fix some of the other things that are WRONG first. I would love to see this game become much more. But you guys are failing to deliver at every turn. I can no longer support your company if you keep following this path. I used to love paying for your paychecks with my hard earned cash, now I feel like I threw all that money away. I'm sorry. Your game is no longer fun for me and the fact that you can't even keep your mech launch timeline in order show's me what kind of company you are.
I love all the guys I used to drop with but I'm not sure about the state of the game as it sits. I am disappoint.
I love you, AyezRed

For those of us who specialise in the assault/Heavy end of the mechpool, it means we have to spend $80 to get the one variant we want (the Red Corsairs Battlemater), while light pilots can get away with $20 for the locust.
We would like an option added to choose the mech(s) we want for each package (personally, I would really only want the Battlemasters, or possibly a Battlemaster/Thunderbolt Storm package for $40)
Also, can we have an option for purchasing whatever package we want with the MC equivalent? The reason being is that some of us have MC hanging around that we have been waiting to spend for something like this, and we would like the option to top up our MC to the right amount and buy the package with the funds we have already invested.
SO PGI (if you are listening), you will get $40 out of me if I can purchase The Storm Teir and CHOOSE THE MECHS I WANT.
As a final note, does this sale also herald the introduction of the weapons listed on the mech variants (i.e. LB-5X AC, Swarm LRM ammo and ER Medium lasers?)

Haha, exactly what I was thinking. I think it might have been? With the victor and quickdraw not yet announced when they said that... that would make 6 already design mechs. So.. maybe!

You sir raise some good points. On these two;
1. I doubt they will - they would not want you to spend money you have already put towards the game on new additional content!
2. Ask the devs worthy question. No doubt the ASK 42 will be foaming with questions about operation phoenix... ...i noticed they provided a FAQ before to try and alleviate this

Any idea how the hanger/mechbay will work for package mechs? I don't have enough mech slots for even one package much less 4... (that's 12 additional mech bays). If each mech comes with a free hanger slot I'm definitely in.
Luckily for me, i specialize in lighter mechs. but i agree, being able to choose your packages would be good.

But I can't justify the $20 I'd be forced to pay for the Locust. Even if I was interested in it for the nostalgia it would still be a horribly useless mech (170 engine cap and 20 tonnes is a joke with the current heatsink/matchmaking systems). Not to mention the Phoenix variant is essentially a low armored, low engine capped, no lower arm actuator, no jump jet Spider-5K, which makes the C-Bill boost worthless. I don't use a Spider-5K to make money, I use it because sometimes it's fun to lose.
Rethink the choice to lock us into buying the locust, I understand that giving us the choice to buy just one mech invalidates the value of getting the top tier mechs early, but it will lose you more money than it gains you. Even just letting us take the Shadow Hawk before the locust would get you a tonne more $20 sales.
At the very least reconsider making the Phoenix variant of the Locust the most terrible version. I still wouldn't buy it, but at least you'd lose less sales.
