So you requested a restaurant to add a copyrighted menu item from a competitor to their menu? Good thing they didn't listen to you. I guess if we were asking PGI to add Zakus from Gundam this would be an apt comparison, but nice try there.
What we're asking is for the Phoenix packs and hopefully future packs like this to have some sort of value in the rungs below the max cost package. Right now the only people who would buy a 20-40 dollar package are those who suffer from powerful nostalgia and rose tinted goggles.
Because of this we have one of two real options
A. Pay 80 bucks for a relatively good deal
B. Don't spend money at all
I went with option B despite wanting to spend money on MWO.

A MAN TRIED TO SELL ME A HAND FULL OF CRAP ONCE FOR A THOUSAND DOLLARS, I ASKED HIM TO SPRINKLE SOME GOLD ON IT BUT HE CALLED ME AN ENTITLED TURD BURGLAR.
*EDIT, WHY THE HELL IS THE WORD "TURD" CENSORED?

that´s because they offer you the freedom of choise...
okay,so some people missed the point in my little stupid fun-statement.
it´s a buisness decission, they WANT you to buy the BIG package... if you want the BM,you´ll have to buy the biggie...
i´ll refuse from doing so, but i know that it´s the way they offer the presale. no petition in the world will change that, unless the marketing department decides that it´s a good idea, so brilliant that it would be stupid not to do it.
and to answer to the quote: if you buy the 80$ package and ask PGI to leave the PhoenixHawk out,i am pretty sure there would be a solution...
plus

If you came in with expectations then people are already GOING to be disappointed. So that little point of fact is on those who had expectations going in, not PGI. I bought the Legendary pack knowing I was getting by what was listed, not assuming anything. I've been on the same roller coaster ride everyone else has been since then. I've been happy and disappointed many times.
With this pack I know in order to get my monies worth I might as well master out and keep every mech I bought. Instead of maxing out the only one I like and then selling it for the empty mech bay.
I can say I've gotten my monies worth with the founders package, and I've invested more as well. Currently I'm holding anything else back for certain reasons. But I have confidence that PGI will get this game to a place where it's enjoyed at by many people and the longevity in game play will be there...
Heres the problem:
Those expectations where created solely based on the promises that PGI made.. or have you forgotten all the Dev posts describing in great detail how the game would work.. wich turned out to be nothing but hot air and completly dropped since they allready have problems running the game as is?
What youre describing is unfounded expectations... or wishfull thinking
But when someone lays out in great detail what he is planning to do if you found him.. and then a couple months later goes "lol sorry guys cant do that... that was my position at the time" you have every right to be more then a little pissed.

If you don't want us to pay 20$ for any specific mech, maybe make a 30 dollar bundle with choice enabled for all the people who only care about one?
Currently the 20-40$ bundles are terrible.
Maybe even the option to turn mechs you don't want into MC, Cbills, or premium time.

It's funny that some folks think this is anti-consumerism though. You still have a way to obtain almost everything they offer in the package deal over time if you want. If all you're interested in is the BM, then wait until January and pick it up then. You have plenty of time to save up CBills for it or save up a few bucks to buy some MC to use. They're not stopping you from being able to pilot these mechs, they're just offering an incentive to give them money so you can use them earlier.

PGI said you can't sell the mech's. (aka no real free mechbays

But I still bought overlord.
Why?
1 "hero-like" mech per weight class
9 mechs months before actual release.
4 cockpit items.
Premium time.
And the chance to find out that I may like one of the other 3 better than what I currently drive, and already have a "boosted" variant if that turns out to be the case.
Nobody "forced" me to do it (that argument is completely preposterous, and has always been, but some entitled whineabee always seems to come up with it), I was not coerced in any way. Logic, rational thinking, and basic economics make it the obvious choice.
And no, I`m not someone "with money to burn", until next week I`m still unemployed, and was at the time of purchase.
FTR, the "20$ /mech" argument is the biggest pile of mimimimi-"I want but can`t have for free" ********* anyone on these forums has ever pulled out of their overactive verbal ******....
What does premium time cost?
What do mechbays cost?
What do cockpit items cost?
Since when do 3 mechs = 1 mech?
Seriously, do not ever even consider starting a business, becasue you have absolutely no clue of how to calculate prices and margins.... You`re literally saying that buying a 3 cars, (one with with custom paint and 2 whores chained to the back seat for life) a 3 car garage, free gas for a month and a cappucino machine is the exact same thing same as buying just one car.
A complete and total economics, basic math, and overall use of brain fail.
We live in a capitalist society. Hence the basic principles of Supply and Demand apply here just as much as they do with any other purchase. Vote with your wallet, either by paying up, or not buying. Or take to the streets and actively campaign for the abolition of the free market system in favor of (x). Everything else is wasting your time, our time, and your breath.

At some point in the future PGI will probably try this again, so I can only hope they take this feedback into account for the next pre-sale.

The problem is not that you do not have freedom of choice - the problem is, that people percieve that bigger means better, and that therefore only the battlemaster is a viable mech. This originates in the state of ballance the game is in. But PGI said themselves, that size doesnt matter and that a small mech is (or should be) just as valid as a big mech - there still needs to be some work being done here by PGI.
I think this offer is perfectly fair - and even better than the founder package (actually way better). I am going for overlord, even though I am not playing much atm (I also bought the sarah mech, even though I have that particular jenner variant because of my founder package, but you get an awesome paintjob and the money goes to something good - even though I am quite pessimistic regarding cancer, no matter how much money you throw at it...).
My suggestion is for you who are sceptic, to wait for the hero battlemaster or even the for sure to come clan founder package.
have fun!
