Best guess is August: Victor in July, Flea in August, Orion in September, and the Phoenix 'mechs in October-January.

That's not quite what I meant. I know the ETA, but my point is... how confident are you that they'll able to get the the Flea working... because they've already delayed its existence by 4 months... and we still have serious hitreg issues as is.

Sorry, got to pick a nit with you. They're stock load-outs. That makes them akin to Founder's mechs rather than Hero mechs which are a unique load out.

I agree that the pricing is pretty good for this pack - despite the lack of MC - but I think we should try to reduce the confusion surrounding the various mech types (Standard, Founder, Champion, Hero, Phoenix) - some people couldn't keep them straight before PP. ;)

The PP pack includes the "special" variant and 2 others... I'm guessing they'll be different variants of each chassis. That's good, gives you the 3 you need to complete the Pilot Tree.

If you don't pay money for the PP pack, can you get all the variants for cBills? You just won't get the fancy PP skin or cbill/loyalty bonus? It didn't seem clear to me in the descriptions, but almost has to be this way to allow Pilot Tree progress.

So the limited time availability PP mechs are like Hero mechs, but with stock hardpoints. Or like Champion mechs, but with unique skin. But not like either as PP has loyalty bonus.

Anyway, why am I posting, why did I quote you? I forget now... not enough blood in my coffee-stream at this point.

Thanks for the information OP. I have been thinking about it and IMO doesn't justify for the $20 purchase.

Herp derp, no I don't want an inferior mech. Heck, I will save the $20 on other stuff like mech bays instead.

Sure, but the Founder 'mechs are unavailable to anyone. Hero 'mechs have a 30% CB boost, as does the Phoenix 'mechs.

So yeah, the Phoenix 'mechs aren't exactly like Hero 'mechs, but they're a bit more than just stock 'mechs - they will also look different and have different paint jobs than the stock 'mechs.

I feel like I'm being punished for wanting to buy robots.

>I wanna buy a hawk, mister PGI, sir.
>nah, you gotta buy this useless light first.
>but I don't want to buy that. You won't sell me the thing I want unless I buy this terrible robot first?
>that's right!

Please. I want a hawk, but have no interest in this awful mech. Just sell me the product I want.

Granted the combat capabilities are mediocre, but the locust was designed as a reconnaissance mech which therefore implies it should be used like one, with a tag to aid missile boats though spotting /marking and mgs to clean up after a brawl. And I will be honest, the mech will curb the aggressive tendencies of many light pilots out there.

No ECM = dead scout.

The reason the Locust isn't really viable seems due more to the C-bill and XP mechanics. Scouting and base capping doesn't grant the resources needed to purchase upgrades and level up skills. Destroying arms and legs, doing damage, and getting the killshot does. That's why the light scout mechs (non-Jenner, non-3L) are such a grind to level up, because the leveling takes significantly longer than it does with a damage dealer.

Unless PGI is looking to modify the C-bill and XP mechanics or upgrade values for light mechs, they will remain "unhelpful." Given that we haven't heard anything about such a modification, there's not much of a reason for someone who doesn't know the Locust lore to want that mech.

That would certainly make the Locust useable, but considering that it will never be faster than heavier lights, even after the speed cap is removed, there still won't be a real reason to use it. The only difference between it and a heavier scout would be the heavy scout would be able to put up a fight against hunter/killer light mechs that chased it down. That and with its tiny tonnage you'd have practically no room for TAG/BAP/NARC if you also wanted weapons. Not to mention that it can't take ECM at all.

A significantly smaller size than even a 35 tonner would probably make 20-tonners still worth piloting in spite of everything you mentioned.

The 'Mando isn't significantly smaller than the Spider and I doubt the Locust will be significantly smaller than that. Even if it was though it would have to be very, very small indeed to avoid enough fire to make up for the almost 50% difference in armor between it and a Spider, the lack of jumpjets and the tiny weapon loadout.

Even then smaller hitboxes would just means more splash damage until PGI fix Streaks.
