I would kind of like to roleplay, more so if others were going to. I'd be more inclined if other people role played.

Wow, there are more RPers than I thought there'd be. Awesome.

Obviously, "tyra" is not my real name. When I created my pilot's name I was..creating my pilot's name, not expecting that to be my forum name.

Otherwise I would have gone with my usual handle.

Jazeera is in no way shape or form my real name, but the name of the character Jazeera Nova Cat, Trueborn Clan MechWarrior. Unfortunately or fortunately (depending on how you look at it), since the Clans are not player factions (until further notice), I'm "stuck" being Jazeera "Jazz" Nova MechWarrior of Dämmerung Legion, a Merc company my friends and I play TT BT/MW as. Hopefully my friends will play with me so I can actually have the real Dämmerung Legion to pal around with instead of being a lone wolf RPing that I'm in a merc company.

well i think a little "light rp" won´t do any harm^^ if there turns out to be something like a "rp-community" ingame...well why not, worth a try... :P
oh and i´m playing as...uhm guess:) Adrienne was the Lance Commander of my MW/BT Rpg Lance...66th Stormbirds Company, MercCorp w/o house affiliation...

OH btw..DEVS!!! I´m really gonna NEED my freakin´Archer! make it happen pls! ^^

I've roleplayed BT before, but it's too much effort to go "all out" as a Founder of a Clan. Probably spout a few Clan oaths and just get on with playing the game.

Well Thom was a character I RPed back in the day. He started out as just a name scribbled out as the pilots name of a mechsheet. After a few lucky head shots he kind of took on a life of his own. We slowly intergrated some RP to our games and suddenly he was a NAMA dropout from the St. Ives Compact (I would have picked them as my allegence if it was available.)

He was in the same class as Kai Allard and HATES him for all the severe beatings in the mech sim by Kai's hand.

Cannot decide what to vote, it largely depends on how the game would develope / look at the end.

You are driving a giant bipedal war machine around. Unless you actually own one, you are roleplaying by definition.

Will definitely RP to some extent, it might rob something to be totally out of character on the battlefield (as well as make holding a lance together as effective as a 4am ballet in a nightclub). As to how much outside of cockpit it's a matter of time and engagement. Get the impression that as far as progression in the house and the like goes, the powers that be will definitely support people getting immersed, without alienating fresh mech jocks. With the rich lore, the flow of the story plus inspired gamer addition it should be absolutely awesome and I think people who hadn't otherwise planned on pursuing a sort of constructed character might accidently find themselves sucked in.

I love to RP, in the mechwarrior series especially. The whole "Inside-Cockpit-View" makes it so much easier to do so~!

Its my handle. See?

Depends. I love RP, but many people arent taking it serious and then it looses all appeal. The immersion disappears rather fast if someone isnt holding on to the roleplay, so its questionable if its worth to start with.

Also, i rather play my own characters than trying to find my place inside the whole canon-thing and many are getting disturbed by it, because "no one of your rank" or "somebody with your allegiance" would act like this or decide this, whereafter the discussion most often ends with me, thoroughly explaining the meaning of the F and the U in the expression FU.

The idea of RP'ing in MWO seems really weird to me. I'm a big fan of RP, but this is the equivalent of booting up CoD and rp'ing as Private Smith.

Nah, or at least not is the way the term has come to be used. If you go with that definition every single game every made ever is a roleplaying game. See my above message for an example. :P

If you are playing a game just as yourself, then you're not taking on a role/persona so you're not "roleplaying."

No, just joking. There is a big world, comparable (no, im not saying its the same) to LotR or Star Wars. You choose your faction, your goals, your past and your story. So basically the very same as in any other Shadowrun or DnD scenario, just with mechs^^

I will not Rolepaly per se. I've build up a small background for a character and I will try to play him ingame along these lines. That means, staying true to the FRR, holdinga grudge against the combine etc.
But I won't bother other people who are not interested with it. But if someone starts roleplaying with me I'll be joining in.

I'm an old vet who has found himself a commanding officer in a small but elite mercenary company. I will roleplay or not roleplay as my mood and situation warrant.
