first of all i am disappointed i could not post in what seemed to be the most appropriate forum 'feedback, archive'i am a L founder and even despite my disappointment so far likely to go for the $80 Phoenix package. i love the franchise and i have boundless optimism for what this game could be but right now it is failing on all fronts, for me personally.
essentially there are 3 game mode/architectures you could be aiming at.
the 'Mechwarrior' where you engage in an epic battle, in which the loss of a mech is hard felt. a sense of loss accompanies a death and a sense of victory a win. this could perhaps be accomplished through longer game modes, with repair facilities and multiple (non-linear) objectives. much like the original mechwarrior series but in a MMO environment. Then there is the 'Mechcommander' game mode, where the strength in depth of your mech bay is brought to bear in a campaign type mode. personally this is what i'm hoping for, preferably coupled with a sense of loss/achievement detailed above. where a clan/faction/society/whatever co-ordinate attacks on a battle map, planetary or galactic, in order to secure resources/advantages for their members. which then will need to be defended, while further expansion is always the goal.then there is the 'Modern warefare' mode, or something similar. which best approximates what we have now. it is a first person shooter with a modicum of weapon customization prior to game launch.
this mode is for me the biggest let down. MW 1 & 2 were totally immersive, as much as a game allows, feeling as though you were piloting the beast. right now if u die, u re spawn in another match and you will die because each match is so short term. even in the modern warfare series that i have such contempt for there is a role for snipers i believe, where patience and skill has it's rewards but not here.to date i have spent at least $120 and am likely to spend a further $80 before jul 25th purely on the hope as to what this game could be.please take inspiration from some of the longest lasting games around, the clan/soc mode of navyfield would be imo a good model and something i think WoT has grasped and perhaps to eschew some of the more flash in the pan popularity of games such as modern warfare.right now i do not feel connected to this game, i have a fair ability at it but haven't played in 2-3 months because nothing really grabs me. i don't need constant new things, just a challenge and a reason for co-operative play. PvP and teamwork are what bring people back again and again, even when i'm not playing i check TS to see who's on for a chat.
maybe i'm getting to old for computer games but i don't think so. what i am getting tho is better off. i have more money year on year and as my kids get older more time to play computer games. maybe i'm wrong and your market analysts have hit something i don't get but it seems to me i have disposable income and a desire to play something along these lines. please do better.
