I understand that one of the features of the BAP is that it's supposed to increase sensor range by 25% (that is, from 800m to 1000m). I tried this out in training mode.

Without BAP: targets disappear after you reach 801m.

With BAP: targets disappear after you reach 801m.

Is this description wrong? Is training mode just bugged? Or is this actually broken?

Bap has no effect in training mode. the increased sensor range works in normal game. try it yourself

and sensor range is only 200m not 800m, BAP increases it to 250m, add the advanced sensor module and you have 30m more, or 50m more if you have both levels of advanced sensors unlocked... at most you could run up to 300m of sensor range still very far from your LoS targeting ability at 801m.

There is no reason why equipped items dont work in the TESTING Grounds, though, efficiencies do not work there

erm.. whats the difference here between sensor range and LoS targeting?

It's really weird that you can't test your equipment in the TESTING grounds.

I would also like to know this, I can't imagine what the difference could be.

BAP does extend sensor range and target info speed.

It does allow you to target an ECM mech near you (~200m)... but this is where the BAP fails.

The ecm 'i wont let you lock missiles or share target data' is still in effect... so really, its pointless to equip a BAP to 'fend off' ECM mechs.

Would not be surprised if this were true.

BAP allows 2 things:
- extends furthest targeting range, 800m goes to 1000m.
- against ECM cloaked Mechs, normally you have to be within 200m to target but BAP gives another 50m.

Not sure about sharing targeting info, I run BAP on a HBK-4SP right now and there are times I am near an ECM Atlas-DC, teammates can launch LRMs at it even though I am the only one near him.

Hey guys,

BAP counters one ECM (the closest to your Mech) within 150 meters. When the ECM is countered, the Mech can be targeted :D

And if you are within 180 to 230 (250 if you have advanced sensor) meters you can target ECMed enemy.
Without BAP and advanced sensor this gap is between 180 to 200 meters.

BAP is a quintessential item for all Scout Mechs that don´t have ECM but want to use their streaks. Ask my JR7-D and all the dead RVN3-L´s.

Thanks for the clarifications, there's a lot of misinformation out there regarding what this item can and can't do. Having this stuff laid out more clearly in the game itself would be a godsend.

BAP is essential to any mech that wants to use ssrms period. It should also extend LOS targeting distance to 1000m, or ~1200m with the module as well.
