Just a small (and somewhat insignificant) suggestion.
I like to push my 'mech to it's limits; to the point where I pretty much have it on constant override. IMO it would be a nice feature if the heat counter would indicate in the readout (the little box that says 20%, 50% 100% etc) how far over 100% you are. I don't think it will affect game play balance; it's really only an aesthetic thing (and an indication on how stupid I'm being). If you have a better idea, I welcome you to post (but play nice).

A readout of how far above 100% you are? How inconvinient. Why not do it MW3-style?

The 'Mech is giving out a warning, then shutting down 2 seconds later, if heat reaches the yellow part of the scale. It's possible to override, of course, by pressing the veto button.
If the heat reaches red levels somehow (by overriding or by an alphastrike of 6 ppc's or something similar), the 'Mech will take damage. Ammo will explode, weapons will melt and your 'Mechs arms will gutter down the sides of the torso. Finally, core meltdown.

Nothing ridiculous, I'd never top 110%; keeps me running, and putting down good damage, as the others are shut down. But yeah, I don't see why this wouldn't work; though I think it would require a significant change to the current mechanic.
No, I don't think so. They just have to redefine the heatbar. Make the 100% mark a little lower. The 'Mech will of course still auto shut down if reaching 100%, but the bar will still be visible above 100%.
