Let me first say, I absolutly love this game, and that in no way is this a flame thread. I've been supporting MWO since October of 2011, and while I thought I bought an Elite Founders package, I apparantly missed the deadline by minutes (servers went offline on Tuseday, 10am PST like normal and I put in the cash around 1020). But whatever, no drama. I still purchase MC every so often and have 5 Hero mechs and 18 odd mech bays, and hundreds and hundreds of hours play time. So noone can say I don't already support your game.

I WANT TO BUY YOUR PHOENIX PROJECT "Overlord" PACKAGE.

But I'm not going to. Not yet. I'm not even a BattleTech fan, I've never played anything, read anything, TT'ed anything BattleTech ever before this game, but those mechs look awesome. The reasion I'm not jumping on this like a duck on a junebug is because of the current state of the game.

No, I'm not getting into what's wrong. We all know what's wrong, so I'll leave it at that.

So, Piranha Games, here it is: If your big July 9th "Balance Patch" curbs the tide of walking 1-shot kill robots, and I really mean crub-stomp them, I will whip out my debit card and buy the whole thing. Again, I really want to. However, the game is so one-sided right now, I just cann't justify the eighty dollers. If the July 15th patch is a total let down, and the 1 shotting continues, I'm not going for it, simple as that.

All that being said, I still love playing the game, and I intend on riding it out for a while longer.
Keep it up guys, I know you can make this game work.

Definitely don't feel as strong as you do, but I'm not excited about these packages for sale, I'm excited about CW that we never hear much about. I admit I would really like a Battlemaster because it was my favorite mech (Battlemaster IIC) in MW4:Mercs. And, I've also been supportive of PGI because I want it to succeed but I am actually thinking of not buying one of the packages as a statement. We'll see, like you said, in the July patches. First Tuesday in July is the 2nd, but I'm betting the patch isn't until the 9th, so 9th and 23rd. I remember someone saying that 12v12 is due the first patch in July. Have to see if that gets pushed back too.

Btw, you must be a light pilot, because, except for an extremely rare HUD shot, I don't get 1-shotted in a Heavy or Assault.

I'll buy it if it has a cockpit item that disables 3pv on the entire map and gives a realistic heat scale.

Buying it after the July dev updates. I am happy with PGI's body of work over the last 8 months. HSR and the network optimization fixes alone are worth it. The weapon tweaks and steady flow of new mechs are icing on the cake. I can't believe I bothered to play this game with the old hit detection.

you are not alone in feeling this way.
I have been playing for almost a full year now, pretty much without any serious breaks, and spent a lot of money, and i like the idea of this package, but with the current state i will not buy this unless we see some serious changes for the better.
im not bitching that "X" is broken or "Y" is OP, but there are a number of problem i dont feel PGI is addressing properly (utter lack of communication with CW, delaying more important aspects of the game in favor of 3pv).
and i know others in my Clan feel the same way, but for slightely different reasons.
in the end we will probably end up buying this (i see it as a great deal) but if things dont get fixed, i dont have any problem not buying MC or packages for quite some time.

I doubt the july 9th patch will curb high alpha pin-point. That heat thing they talked about should have been the part they said "we thought about low heat threshold socialism for all mechs, but..." Mechs need socialism heat thresholds for balance.

I am also going to hold out to see what next month's patch brings. One shot mechanics in any player versus player game is an easy way to turn off new players to the game and even people who relatively enjoy it.

But I would also like info on Community Warfare. Which will keep my playing in the long run.

Ultimatums really only work when you are in a position to wield significant power over your intended target.

Otherwise, all you're really doing is saying that if you don't get your way, you're taking your ball and going home. Which is fine, nobody can stop you from doing that. That's your choice.

But don't confuse your reaction with anything that would count as a significant problem for your host.

A lack of meaningful balance updates have prevented me from buying MC to get the hero mechs I want. I will not give money to PGI in good faith that with just a little bit more they could get things up and running because I don't have that good faith in them. If they really wanted to balance things they could but for what ever reason they don't.

Now if they proved me wrong and worked reasonably to maintain that steady progress I'd gladly invest money into this game. Sadly, as it stands now I just don't feel like I want to invest money into this game. PGI has ensured that MWO's priority in my entertainment budget has steadily fallen and there are simply other games out there I'd rather purchase.

It's not just me. And it's not just the people who've agreed with me. There are more. And the more people stop giving up cash because they habitually fail to fix the problem, the less likly there will be a MWO come January.

Perhaps, but I think you probably overestimate the number of people with the same reaction as you. And until you form a committee of some sort, can you really presume to speak for your demographic?

Besides you're assuming that PGI aren't doing any more to make the game better. That this is all we got forever.
Karl onows a out the hit detection, PGI know what the issues are and I'm sure they're working to fix problems, real or perceived.

I guess your ultimatum would mean more (well more than it does) if the game we have now is the one we're going to have 6 months or a year from now. It's constantly changing.

Besides you don't call the shots, they're not gonna bring back these package deals later on just cos you're happy with the game then.

Yeah I read it. What if they dont come next week, what if notnext month but 2 months later it gets fixed.
What if there's another change he doesn't like 3 months down or something introduced in the next patch he doesnt like... eg he hates the new movement changes.

Another tantrum and ultimatum? Demand the they offer the Phoenix packages only when this forum poster is satisfied?

Did you read my reply? The game will always be changing - until the servers go dead, which is unlikely for the next year.

Just buy it. I'm dropping the dosh and I don't plan on playing till my shiny new mechs drop. The game is just in a bad state right now. Invest in your future, come back later. It's slowly and constantly improving. Just accept that it's bad now, it's going to stay bad for a while, and don't get your knickers in a twist.

Hey Yiazmat it's been awhile. I know how you feel. Just take your time. The deals going to be around probably until august maybe even late September. The only rush is until July 25th for the 30 days of free premium time. So watch the patches and see if the Heat Nerf and Movement Nerf change the meta.
