Hi, I have an EVGA 570gtx and use a well ventilated and multiple fan unit. Running the GPU fan at 75% I am still hitting mid to high 80's for temperature and the GPU usage is maxed out. Even just logging into the mechbay sends my temps up to 50 degrees when idle is typically 37 degrees. I noticed the change somewhere between the last two patches. Never had this problem before. Before someone says it, no the CPU temp is fine and yes I have dusted the inside of the case.

Remember reading this this morning.

Are you running the combat part of the game in Full Screen mode or one of the two windowed modes?

Playing around and was working on getting some recordings, when I saw almost 100% GPU usage. Running in FS mode, FPS runs from 110 to 170 FPS, which at the same time GPU is usage is pegging out at 100%.

Playing in Windowed mode, system/driver/game runs at 60FPS constant and GPU load at 40-50%.

For those who want to run in Full Screen instead of Full Windowed (no borders) mode, they can either enable V-sync or manually limit FPS in the MWO config.ini file to reduce the work being done.

sys_MaxFPS = 60

i5-3570k 3.4ghz OC 4.2ghz
Both ATI 7950 and ATI 7870

Hey your suggestion worked. I switched to full window mode and the GPU usage dropped to 60-70% and the temps back to a normal 60-70 degrees. Don't know why this works but it does. Thanks for the tip.

Without the internal FPS meter to show it, the game's FPS is set to a max 60 FPS in windowed (full and normal) mode, reducing the workload on the GPU.

If you load up FRAPS, or if you have MSI Afterburner and set it up to show FPS in game, ya be able to see the FPS.

I'm also experiencing these issues, as well as flat out blue screening. Running in windowed mode seems to be alright (for awhile at least), but fullscreen causes my system to freak out. Wondering what all I can do to stop this from occuring?

Currently running
Windows 7 64-bit home premium
i5-3570k
Gigabyte Z77x-UD5H mobo
EVGA 650 TI Boost (Superclock edition) 192-bit 2gb
G. Skill Ripjaw 16gb 1666
Antec 750w PSU
2x Asus V238H 23'' monitors
Coolermaster Storm Trooper Case - running full fan load )4x 120mms and 1x 200mm

System is nothing fancy but is fairly decent - I have a second video card and a 1000w PSU on the way from newegg, I am hoping to get these issues worked out before I hook up the new gear, cause I am a bit worried that the blue screens may blow something up if it continues.

tl;dr - any idea how to stop the desktop/bluescreen crashes? I am going to test it with V-Sync and perhaps the FPS cap manually. Hopefully this helps to stop some of the issues.

If you play in Full Windowed mode, there will be no borders and the system would benefit from having the FPS capped at 60.

The blue screens indicate a system issues. If the GPU is being pegged out at 100%, it is not simply drawing more power but also building up heat which can affect other components.

I would play in one of the two windowed modes. From previous experience issues arise more often in full screen mode than not, more so for those who alt tab out often.
