Hey guys

i wanna start reading the battletech books. I found some threads in wich many people suggested reading the warrior trilogy and then the Saga of the grey death. I will probaly go this way

But minus a origenal sword and the dagger paperback costing 50 euro, i have not been able to find any Battletech books!

Does anyone have a good website/retailer wich sells these books? I live the EU for shipping. And while i do prefer paperback books, i would not say no to an online payable version.

Also are there any new books being written as we speak?

The BattleTech novels have been out of print for a little while, so you'll have to hunt them down on Amazon, eBay, et cetera. The only recent BattleTech novel publications are BattleCorps compilations (The Corps, First Strike, and Weapons Free), and maybe some of the later MechWarrior Dark Age books, as well as 25 Years of Art and Fiction.

The current format of story publishing is BattleCorps (http://www.battlecor.../BC2/index.html), which is a subscription-based website that delivers short stories from all of the BattleTech authors. You can also buy BattleCorps stories for your e-reader via Amazon.

Other than those, good hunting!

I was wondering for myself: what battletech books cover the Jihad?

*sits in rocking chair*

Back in the day normal bookstores, remember those? carried battletech books. I remember there was a whole shelf of them. Stretching as far as the eye could see. I would walk uphill in the snow both ways to see that shelf.

Unfortunately there are no novels set during the Jihad itself. The original BattleTech and MechWarrior novel series ended with the conclusion of the FedCom Civil War (which was juuust before the Jihad). The MechWarrior Dark Age series picks up 60 years after the last BattleTech novel, Endgame (or 51 years after the end of the Jihad) in 3132. Most, if not all Jihad fiction can be found on BattleCorps, source books, and 25 Years of Art and Fiction.

It was actually quite an interesting time - the only way to read about the Jihad was to get involved with the game (or otherwise read spoilers on the CBT forum). BT fans were actually living and fighting the Jihad rather than just reading the next novel in line. Actually, it still is now that CGL is simultaneously covering the early-Republic and post-Republic eras.

This site should really remove its search function. There is no legal free source for battletech novels. The books are still under copyright. If you want them, please buy them and support the author and publisher.

Grey Death Legion can be found used on amazon or ebay.

If you have a Kindle, I just read "Hector" and "Vengeance" by Jason Schmetzler, and albeit short, they're both very good reads.

All but 4 of the Dark Age novels are available in ePub via Amazon. I assume the missing 4 are issues relating to copyright but even so it's damned frustrating. Difficult to support authors when their books are unavailable!

Funny you should ask. Just last night I was browsing the Amazon Kindle store, which has several battletech books available. Not ideal if you don't have a kindle, but you may be able to buy the ebook and convert to PDF using Calibre or similar.

I was told wolves on the border was the best starter book for someone new to battletech books altogether. I think I will try to find a paperback of it since you can't buy a digital copy.

I can go to a international archiving database and find a braille issue of playboy from 1982.. but I can't buy a direct from retail classic battletech novel. >.< xD

I was fortunate enough to discover the novels early on and read all of them as they were published. I still would like to read The Sword And The Dragon. I'm just not willing to pay stupid money for it.

Once the timeline got accelerated to the Dark Age, I read Ghost War and decided DA was not for me. I would much rather see books based on the creation of the Star League or at the very least, the Amaris coup and Kerensky's campaign to win back Terra. I also feel that there must be more stories that can be told from the 3rd Succession war or even the first two Succession wars.

One other thing that would be cool would be a novel or even a short novella pertaining to the Galtor Campaign. I still have that source book with the Archer on the cover.
