I think most of us would agree that current stat of PPC is a bit too good: instantaneous pinpoint damage, fast travel time, boatable (low required crit slots & fairly low tonnage per unit). PGI needs to find a way to bring that in line with the other weapons.

Here's what I'm proposing: Give it a firing delay (like 0.5 sec) and a glowing effect during the delay. Think of it like MegaMan's cannon, a slight "charging up" time before the ball lightning flies off.

What does this solve?
1. Make it more of a skill shot. You don't just point the crosshair and shot, you need to track the target slightly before it goes off.
2. The delay makes it out of sync with alpha'ing other weapons, notably, the gauss rifle. If the other mech is standing still, then it's not an issue, but if it is moving, it takes more effort to land the PPCs and the gauss
3. Give people a chance to react with the "recharging" glowing effect. You see a stalker facing you and the tips of its PPCs lit up, you can at least try to torso twist to avoid 60 damage to your damaged LT/RT or (for lights/meds) slow down/speed up if you think he is leading your moving mech.

Thoughts?

This still wouldn't fix pinpoint damage although it would make any form of poptarting nearly impossible with PPCs. It would give some mechs a chance to avoid being hit but for others it probably wouldn't make much difference.

I made another PPC fix suggestion in this post - http://mwomercs.com/...d-point-damage/ changing the PPC to be a splash damage weapon instead though I also support the idea of not having torso mounted weapon convergence.

The only reason a PPC is OP is when boated.

So just increase the heat the more damage you "shoot" and call it a day.
