I'm thinking you have an equal chance of having 99 days to say "Whew, I almost bought that thing". I think I'd rather have the 99 days to figure out how squishy it is. I learned my lesson on the Legendary.

I will probably have that exact thought, except it wasn't even "I almost bought that thing" just "Man, I'm glad I didn't buy that thing, blows my mind that anyone would."

I don't regret my Legendary purchase because it made sense at the time. I was thoroughly enjoying closed beta, and things were actually sort of changing for the better at a reasonable pace. On top of that, I really wanted to see a game with this franchise succeed, because maybe if it did, perhaps it would encourage publishers to green-light a single player MechWarrior game, which would be great. I made a decision I believed in at the time.

Obviously things are different now.

Anyway, yeah, I guess if this was like the only game anyone played, I can see how they might be able to justify this purchase ("OMG I GET 12 'MECHS!!!"), but seriously, I'd expect more people live more balanced lives.

$80 might not seem like a lot in this day and age, but there are many things that one could (and should) spend it on instead of Project Phoenix, or gaming at all. That said, the current Humble Bundle and Bundlestars give you ten games (and ten soundtracks on the HB!) for $5. And you don't even need to wait 3.5 months for it. I There are multiple bundles available too, so it's like, you want to spend $15 and get 30 games, or spend $20 and get a Locust and two variants? It just seems counter-intuitive to me, and PP is just geared for people with Type-A "100% completion" personalities, or for the emotional impact of getting a Battlemaster (yes, it means a lot to me, I've asked for it in many threads, and I'm glad it is here, I just don't want to spend $80 to get it in 3.5 months, I'd rather spend $0 and get it in 7 months, or spend $30 and get it today).

Not trying to rant, but suffice to say I don't see the value in this that other people apparently do, but would gladly buy a Battlemaster just for the sake of having a Battlemaster for less than $80, because I'm an *****. Spending any money on it is difficult to justify, but $80 is out of the question for many users here, and I feel like if they offered lower price-point options that still included the Assault or Heavy 'mechs, more people would purchase.
