If I have unlocked Sensor range under pilot tree and buy the Sensor range module. Then later upgrade to Advanced Sensor range, do I need to buy an advanced module also or is the same module used for both? Thanks for help.

Right. Same i used for both.
Once you upgrade to the advanced version, remove the module and re-install it to be sure to get the advanced version installed. with some modules this is a bug that will be fixed soon, but they dont always upgrade if installed prior to the upgrade purchase.
