After looking at Hawkeye's stats here - http://mwomercs.com/...__fromsearch__1 ( Great job btw mate ) It would seem that an easy way to relieve much of the discontent over getting a beta key ( or rather NOT getting a beta key ) would be to simply give one of the blocks of 500 keys to these users who really make these forums as active as they are.

Because lets face it, we have about ran out of stuff to discuss and I'd say we've earned it.

I am not trying to be an elitist weasel here or anything, but come on PGI, how about rewarding those of us that have been your strongest supporters?

But then the regular forum would go silent and the game would appear dead to a new arrival...

On July 17th it will be that way anyway, why prolong the inevitable?

Who would tell people about Clans (i.e no Mad Cats) and who to pick, then?

Really, some of us may get lucky, but it's generally a normal move to give us lower priority.

Aye, I totally understand that. But a closed beta with only 4000 people is a extremely small number for a game that is expecting a pretty large user base. There are indie games out there in beta right now that would kill for 4000 users.

Ah, but then the dreaded NDA should have fallen away, yes?

I have to admit I'm chafing at the bit to get into this game ... there is only so many times I can turn to WoT before I throw my monitor through the window.

But

Living in the sunny land of Poland ... and not on the decadent continent of North America ... I doubt my 662 forum posts will mean much. I don't blame them ... They are testing their game ... Eventually they will either spiral out to other continents or the 17th of July will crawl round.

Either way I will get in.

In the last 2 days I've seen 2 posts from people saying they are in beta or posted a beta bug. It was a first post for both of them, kinda sucks.

Presumably they are bug testing now ... balancing ... not load testing

I don't think an active forum poster necessarily makes a good beta tester.

Then again, giving out keys randomly means there's no guarantee those that do get in to the beta contribute much to beta testing either.

So I tend to agree with you. Throw them a bone (assuming their system specs are up to it, of course). At least there's a good chance the guys who hang around the forums spamming nonsense every day will turn up and play the beta.

As much as I would like a Beta key and would continue to post on the forums when taking breaks from the game, I'm going to have to vote no.

It just sets a standard that I don't agree with, being the loud ones getting rewarded. I also wouldn't want to be in charge of the Beta Forums when those of us that are loud suddenly flood it with feedback. Closed Beta's are tricky things overall.

I agree with the random selection even though it may mean I never get a closed beta key. I'll be getting into the game July 17th anyways.

And how many of those "active users" have a vast majority of posts in some MW Pony thread or off topic spam threads? The game will come soon enough and begging won't get you a key any quicker, I'm just glad to be a part of the community and looking forward to the best MW game since MW2 Mercs.

Who's to say any of those people would make a good tester? They might be able to run at the mouth and utterly SUCK at reporting bugs and balancing issues.

If you get into the beta, grats...if you don't, you still get to play, just later. SHEESH.

Well, it does demonstrate that they at least have some sincere interest in the game, and a sincere desire to make it better.

Well I didn't quite mean "Give the loud trolls beta keys" lol  I'd venture to say that none of us expected closed beta to be limited to such a small number of people. 4000 people, especially when not all those 4000 would be playing at once, can not be called stress testing by any means.

When the system analyzer came out and people were posting their pc specs on the forums, I saw only 2 other people with HD7970 video cards. Now if the goal of the closed beta at this point is to see how the game runs on both low and high end systems, I would think that the 3 people active on the forum with a top end vid card/pc would be in on those grounds alone. ( yes I realize there are more then 3 people with HD7970's )
