I only play lights, mediums, and fast heavies so I'm only considering the level 2 tier. Because it's my birthday soon and the Shadowhawk is my favorite mech I'll probably buy the pack. The only thing that gives me pause is the fact that they heroed the worst possible locust variant and they still haven't fixed the speed limit so there isn't really a point to the locust yet. So... I'll probably end up making my decision on the 24th between the storm tier which has the loyalty medal and the shadowhawk and some MC.

They also seemed to have heroized the worst possible Shadow Hawk Variant. All you'd really be paying for is the extra month of using Shadow Hawks.

If you're going for the 40$ tier I honestly suggest holding onto your money and waiting for other nice things.

If you enjoy Lights, mediums, and Fast heavies you can save your MC for Hero Jenner, Raven, and Spider. Also Flea looks like a better Locust (even though it seems bad too).

As for mediums the hero Hunchback, Treb, Shadow Hawk (the one in the Phoenix pack doesn't count as a hero mech), and possibly a YLW MK2 are coming at some point.

Also Hero Catapult and Quickdraw will come out someday.

For 40 dollars of MC you'll get more of what you want.

I was at the cinema last night... Saw Man of Steel... Total cost for ticket, bus fare, snacks, 37$.. Add the food to that and the full bill clocks in at good chunk above 40$

I think i will have a lot more fun with the mechs then i had at that movie... (i'd aim for the overlord pack if it was not or the fact that i don't drive heavy or assault mechs) So to spend a little extra to get a custom version of a light and a medium is worth it to me.

That is my logic at least.

My reasons for overlord -
  • I don't like grinding for CB just for equipment, mechs. Been through the MMO stages of grinding and can't really stand it anymore. Battlemaster + upgrades you're probably looking at 11-12 mil CB for each mech. That's a lot of grinding without premium. Of course I also want the SH and TB as well. That's ALOT of grinding.

Don't want to rain in your parade, but you still have to grind for the eqipment. You get the mechs but most of them have sub-par equipment, no upgrades etc. You wanna keep up, you have to upgrade. It'll be especially expensive if you want an XL engine for some of them. :)

How about the helping pgi recover the behind the scenes costs associated with bringing us reseens?

http://www.nogutsnog...php?topic=488.0

Stated about 5-7 minutes in, they had to throw cash at legal to negotiate and make sure these weren't going to cause a legal barrier, if paying for the result may get us more (excepting those that those HG frackers own for the time being :) ) i'm all in....

I enjoy the game, I want it to do well and I don't mind investing some money on what works out to be a great deal.

I missed the founders package or I would of bought into that, the Phoenix package offers a bunch of nice mechs and some good Addons I'm happy to buy.

I've already been putting some thought into this, but I'm still undecided. I'm leaning towards getting, simply because I hate feeling like I've missed out on things. Maybe typing everything out will bring clarity.

-Breathe new life into the game. This seems to be a common reason for people purchasing a pack, but will it work? In the short term, yes. Getting 12 new mechs all at once(did I mention I'm only considering the $80 pack?) will provide quite a bit of "new toy" syndrome, at least for a while. It might even prolong the experience, compared to buying them one at a time, because you can switch back and forth, instead of mastering one chassis per month. On the other hand, who's to say our new toys will be any fun? I fear running into another Raven dilemma, where one variant is good, and the rest are terrible slogs that you have to grind due to poor hardpoints/engine restrictions/etc. Or an Awesome dilemma, where an otherwise decent mech is rendered useless due to hitboxes/metagame/other nebulous nonstandard factors.

-Support the game. Is this a valid reason to buy a pack? I don't know anymore. I've kind of lost faith in the devs, despite the fact that I desperately want this game to succeed. I've also found myself regretting my founder's pack, and wonder how long it will take for me to regret this one.

-Shake off the apathy. The more I think about it, the more I come to realize this would a no-brainer for me if I didn't feel so apathetic towards the game. My last purchase was 30 days of premium time, which I now have about a week left, and I've played a total of 2 games during the time. I'm tired of seeing 4-man premades running 4 assaults, tired of watching my team run in 7 different directions and get picked off one by one, tired of maps that invalidate an entire play style, tired of a homogenous metagame that leaves certain mechs and loadouts standing head and shoulders above the rest.

I guess ultimately, I'm still undecided, and my decision to buy will have nothing to do with the pack itself. I'll be waiting to see how 12v12 changes things, if they can balance PPC boat alphas, if they get out UI 2.0 and how well it works, and if they can implement some sort of weight balancing(my friend mentioned something to me, but I haven't seen a dev post about it). Otherwise, I don't see myself enjoying the game much, and therefore can't justify spending the money.
