I was only 220XP away from Eliting my 3rd and final Jenner, the Champion (F), which I'd outfitted with 6 MLs and some Jump Jets. But as any PUGing Jenner Pilot knows, on a bad day, a score of less than that is entirely possible*.

The match, on Forest Colony, seemed fairly even til about the halfway point. Both teams were putting up a good fight. I was hitting and fading, striking from the flanks. But then my teammembers started to drop, and before much longer it was just me vs three enemies.

Rather than try to cap, I headed back towards them to try and land some blows before I got legged and then terminated.

The first encounter was with a Quickdraw. These guys are my current nemesis because I can't outrun or outjump them before they've destroyed my back. But I twisted and turned and circled and used cover, and managed to core him without taking too much fire from his friends, who were heading in to finish me off.

Next up was an Atlas with a pair of PPCs. It was only mildly yellow, but I kept plugging away at his back and dodging just before his PPCs would recharge. His team mate - a Stalker - was lobbing in wave after wave of LRM5s, which was also wearing down the rest of my armor.

And then, just for good measure, he started to cap our base while he was LRMing.

After what seemed like three solid minutes of fighting, I'd taken off the Atlas's arms. My legs were down to crits. One last desperate alpha to the back brought him down, overheating me in the process.

I had many crits exposed by this point, and the rest of my armour was orange. But of course, I headed off to try to save base and win the game.

Dodging the still incoming LRMs, I tried to get behind the Stalker. But he kept shooting lasers my way, with his back to a wall. The base had only 10% left to capture, so I decided that I had no option but to get into the square and attack from the front. Dodging side to side of the drill rig, I waited for my targeting computer to show me his condition. He was in bad shape! I ducked out from the rig and gave him 6xMLs in the CT.

Boom! 3 kills, 4 assists, 110 Match score, 823 damage, and 1,157XP!

In closing, I want to say thanks to my team mates and my opponents. My team did the hard yards, killed the 5 other guys, and got the Stalker to the point where I could deliver the killing blow. My opponents were very gracious and good sports, congratulating me on the improbable win.

I had plenty of luck. But I hope you will agree it was a COMPLETELY AWESOME way to finish Eliting my 3rd Jenner variant :P.

* Earlier today I scored ZERO courtesy of a good shot from a 5PPC Stalker. But I won't write a thread about that LOL.

Thanks!

Lights are like a whole different game. You have to keep moving, be unpredictable, and never take the enemy head on... flank, hit and fade.

Amplify the efforts of others on your team, and be prepared to be the distraction which drives the other enemy to break their lines.

You'll have some really bad games, but also, some really good ones.

I just had another really amazing game in the same Jenner.

My team dropped on Frozen City with 3 LRM Catapults and 1 SRM Catapult, and a variety of medium mechs. Before long it was only me remaining, vs a Cataphract, an Atlas and a Jager.

I used the available buildings and managed to finish off the Atlas from the back. Then I ran towards their base, looking like I was going for a Cap win. They of course pursued.

However, as soon as I was out of their Seismic range, I did a left turn and circled back behind them.

''WTF are you doing?!'' asked my team. ''Splitting them up,'' I replied.

By the time I had come around behind them, they were at their base, wondering where I was. The Cataphract stayed to protect base, while the Jager went looking for me.

Perfect!

The Jager landed an AC shot on me and took my leg and torso down to crits. He also took out 2 of my lasers. But I was able to kill him by keeping him at distance and using cover. That left the Cataphract.

The Cataphract was standing on a building, waiting to strike as I approached. Only 4 minutes remained in the match...

I got to medium range, and positioned behind a building. The clocked ticked down. Neither of us was prepared to make a move. We both waited, with either puzzled or annoyed team mates filling the chat channel.

With only one minute left, my opponent moved slightly left, giving me an opportunity to strike from the other side. I hit him CT with my 4 MLs right in the chest. Nothing! He shot back, legged me, and took out another two of my lasers, as well as several heat sinks.

Limping on one leg, firing Jump Jets to throw off his aim, I desperately mashed the 2 remaining lasers into his core. He would return fire with all his lasers, and then shut down. I was hitting him with 2 MLs every few seconds. The clock kept ticking down...

With less than 10 seconds on the clock, one leg remaining, and crits exposed all over, I hit him a final time, overheating myself in the process. But my final blow had been the killer blow, and the game was ours!

I didn't stop shaking for 10 minutes after that match :D.
