For the highly-specialized build you describe, here is what I use: http://mwo.smurfy-ne...f76d9220c0571f. I really enjoy role warfare with this build, as any desire you may have to drive straight at the enemy line will quickly get you slagged.

Edit: for those who want the quick specs, x4 ALRM15, ERPPC, TAG, XL280.

Some of you guys seem to not use AMS in your builds. Why? I felt that it was always quit helpful, especially for a slow mech like the AWS.

Regarding my builds I focussed mostly on PPC. With LRM I was less successful, as a lot of players do not use the R key and do not provide support mechs with targets.
