Hey there! Great game =)
I'd like to suggest an option to turn the in game chat off completely. I'd like to get my kids involved but the frequency and severity of the foul language in the chat is just too much.
Thanks!
Ed

Foul language has been proven to cause permanent mental scarring. Good job looking out for your kids!

Good thing there is no foul mouthed language in the realworld. way to prepare your kids for whats out there.

Just because there is foul language in the real world doesn't mean anyone has to hear it /read it in game if they don't want to. I'm an adult and don't have kids, and I get tired of seeing it. Learn to express yourself without having to swear all the time. The ability to turn off chat would be great. IMO

I would really love not to have to see the "helpful" advice of people who died in the first minutes of a match.

I would not support this, sorry. This has been discussed extensively on these forums and comments from the developers have suggested that they do not support it either.
Unfortunately this is a team game. I would support a language filter or the ability to block/mute specific players, but turning chat off entirely is detrimental to PUG's who already have a hard time coordinating as it is.
On a personal note; kids are going to be exposed to bad language. I always find this argument a little hard to believe when you're allowing your children to play a violent videogame which simulates killing other people. Smacks of hypocrisy.
"Death, violence and destruction is okay Little Timmy, as long as you're not calling anyone rude names while you do it."

The best you can ask for is chat filtering, and I don't think they'll do that anytime soon...

I would say that it's easy for me to tell my little Timmy that giant robots are fake, while a bit more challenging to explain the foul mouthed behavior that is so frequent on the losing team.
And I'm quite aware that there is foul language in the world, as are many other horrible and ugly things. I just don't want to expose my kids to them so early. I like to call it parenting. I understand not all will agree with that.
I also get the point about communication, and I certainly would not suggest that the chat default to off. Only that there be an option to turn it off if the player so desired.
I really didn't think the topic would rouse anyone's ire, as I'd just like an option to disable something I've no desire to read, that really takes away from the immersion of the game for me, not adds to it.
And yes, I would like to shoot a giant robot with little Timmy. Is that hypocritical? Maybe. Doesn't change the fact that I'd like the option.
Thanks,
Ed
And thanks to Billy M. I'm going to try that =)
