when i see threads like this, i don't even need to check the calender

sunday!

lol too true and this is totally a grumpy rant thread. Sunday's the one day of the week I can get mildly drunk and game which is never a good combo with MWO's buggy unfinished system.

Now, having played a good deal during june, 60+ real hrs of pugging, I have noticed that matches are so lopsided now its reaching puppy stabbing levels of insanity.

The only reason MWO survives atm is because its a FPS for old people that doesn't move too fast or require much thought. You're completely at the mercy of the matchmaker even when grouped with friends and the way matches have been going, its a clear reflection of how drastically the active population for MWO has dropped to abysmal numbers since May.

PGI's decision to turn MWO into the "TF2" of mech games is so far off the mark still... I doubt this game will ever reach a finished state before competition trumps them with better service.

If you play this game then it's obvious even to the newest of players that organized groups are being paired with PUGs matches due to the low active population of participants.

Rants aside, I present topical and accurate depictions of the good and bad. Right now it's mostly bad so I'm going to assume apologists like yourself live in a bubble and are not subject to what the majority reflects.

I'm not sure if people are leaving or not, but while the game is much more reliable (not as much crashing, HUD bugs and other minor issues) the gameplay state is out of whack.

Hit detection is unreliable, overheating has no ill effects (other then being static for a few moments) and ninja 6 ppc (or more 12..16? how many stalkers you got?) alpha's make for quick matches these days.

As well matchmaking in general is at an all time low, I don't know why or how to fix (no real stats available) but we've returned to 8-0 stomps and rolls.

The result of all these issue's translates into unhappy and bored players.

With that said, I manage to still have fun playing non PPC builds as my stats and kill ratio have no bearing on my having fun. (3400 + matches, only 260 total with PPC/ERPPC)

The sniping issue is both an issue of:
1. Weapons Boating & Convergence
2. People play style

Due to the way PGI is handling this overwhelming meta changes, I give them a 4/10.

It is not all their fault, because, come on, people could actually play non-sniping FOTM mechs and actually close the gap, but most don't or do it is a horribly nonstrategic manner. Assault players could actually play their class properly and take the damage for others, but no they hide behind the mediums and lights and maybe heavies.

This sniping culture MWO has is alot to do with the people's gameplay choices. I have played games in which I in a Blackjack paint a huge bull's eye on myself and "Tank" 4 enemies out in the open, praying my death will not be in vain. While the rest of my team hides behind hills "shooting". It is at times like that I scream in horror as 7 people cannot kill 4 enemies with all their stupid sniping weapons.

PGI's weapon balancing it horrid but not extremely out balanced. That part comes from the amount of people reactive quite badly. Going fulling into the FOTM and/or being unable to counter this new FOTM play style.

I mean, I have been and seen groups that rather trench and get LRMed and sniped to death rather then PUSH. And groups that must die die follow the same "standard" path and claim the same "standard" hill an die then adapt and respond.

So to me, this horrible game meta(to me) we have now is thanks to PGI providing the tools which then us players take and beat ourselves senseless with and then rage cry foul.

FYI I think LRMs are currently just a bit OPed. I wish they will tweak the LRM reaction time so that you can dodge at least some of the barrage if you are moving constantly smartly sideways (even if you are not a light).
