http://mwomercs.com/community Click NGNG 79. 32 minutes in, and listen for "this is OP, that is OP."
They talk about the PPC meta.

Somehow doubt I'll see my other balance ideas in there anytime soon, but I am glad about that.
You can find all the ideas to include the PPC one (find it quickly by looking for the picture of the Pretty Baby) in my signature. But yes, to hear some form of my PPC solution mentioned is pretty cool.

Odd place to put your first post. But in all seriousness, welcome! There are a few obvious things changed. The representation of the mechs, the fact that armor (and internal structure according to that podcast) have been doubled, and there is pinpoint damage which is being addressed now that lag compensation has been implemented and its realized how dangerous so many of the battletech weapons are when they register semi-perfectly.
Hacking is for the most part impossible, as everything is controlled by the server (hence the need for lag compensation; your computer asks for permission from the server to do anything where in other games your computer tells the server what you're doing).
Aside from that and a seemingly higher than tabletop heat threshold that allows several alpha strikes (since everyone and their dogs have double heatsinks installed), the game is for the most part much like tabletop (but without any enemies other than mechs at the moment).
I wouldn't call it in its most fun state at the moment, it is technologically in the best state its ever been which says a lot for PGI's new software engineers. As the podcast says, though, they're taking a "patient" approach to balancing.
Until then I'll do my part and make sure to bring a balanced load out instead of a plethora of PPCs.

Need to disagree on this. They DO exist, I sure you should have seen example of thing I am talking about.
Luckily though it is either not very obvious or there isn't many cheaters out there. (Last I played..)
But then again who needs such thing when PGI gives you Upgraded Siesmic sensors.
It is like legalising drugs.. Way to go PGI !!..

I said "for the most part." There's 2 that I know of. "3D Map" which is essentially a form of seeing through walls, and aimbot which threads on hacking servers such as places I won't dignify, they complain of being banned within hours to a few days of using them. So it's pretty quick.
Btw, are you aware that Seismic Sensors can be tricked? Keep your speed 40 kph for a light, 30 kph for a medium, 20 kph for a heavy, less than 10 kph for an assault, and you'll go completely undetected. Note that falls and rough JJ landings will scream for attention. But if you're not even on the ground, they can't detect you.

No.. Is that something new ?? Haven't been playing this game since June... I know people were requesting that feature... I don't recall seeing any patch note on that..

Since when? That's been a widely requested feature. I seem to detect mechs which are basically motionless or just shuffling their feet....
Source?

Pity jumping on him didn't do jack for damage. If they taught you how to circumvent it, how would you know how good or bad the sensor is? It'd be bad for collecting data. It's been mentioned they'd be raising the detection threshold (nerfing it, allowing you to go a bit faster undetected). Gotta wait for Paul to come back from vacation to find out though.
