My Misery is my favourite Mech so far, an I run this build:
MISERY
Use the UAC5 to soften up targets from longer ranges and chainfire the 4 LLs.
If the targets are up close, I use just 1 LL, the UAC5 and the SRM6.
Does decent damage throughout all ranges, just never try to alpha the 4 LLs ... runs hot as hell then.

I'm thinking about getting the misery and I'm wondering how many missile tubes does it have for the one missile hard point? thanks

Gene's Balanced Misery
I couldn't handle the overheating since the PPC change, so I went down to two LL with three ML, along with an AC20 and SRM6. The mix makes me use a lot more buttons on my mouse before, but so far it's been very effective for me.
As you can imagine, I stay in cover and never go rushing out solo in this one...I keep all the 270m weapons on one button just to throw down the hammer when someone gets close, and two LL don't push the heat too badly.

Balanced build with 2 LLas, 2 MLas, an AC/20 and AMS. Minimal armor compromises with adequate heatsinks and maximum speed mean I can generally go toe-to-toe with anyone heavier and ruin anyone lighter.

Gauss has some weird charge and fire within some amount of time thing attached to it now. The build I recommended is kind of crappy unless you have a bunch of buttons on your mouse or a good macro setup.
8.87 sustained dps as is, but put 3 med lasers on it to fire when you want to do extra damage.
http://mwo.smurfy-ne...30423be0b61ae85
It will do 150 damage in 13 seconds without the med lasers.
With three med lasers it does 150 in less than 10 seconds (2 shots of the three lasers)
On a cold map that is still not going to get better than 9 seconds for the 150 damage.
weapon layout I use
gauss on 1 &2
LL on 1
SRM on 2
and 3 med lasers on 3
This lets you control the range and the burst fire.
If you know another build that does 150 damage in under 10 seconds, let me know.
If you end up pairing two of the guns (not including the 3 med lasers) you end up with about 6 sustained. So you really want to get that 270m range if you can. Otherwise you are 20 seconds to 150 damage.
Also note that the srms won't hit pinpoint, so it won't be lethal at 150 in 13 seconds.
The 150 benchmark is significant because that much damage kills or overkills most mechs if directed at their center. 100 armor + 50 structural if you are fighting another misery.

I think the Gauss rifle is the one gun, that complements the big laser setup of Stalkers Misery best. AC20 can be put here, U/AC5 can be put here, but no other gun is better when considering the loadout as a whole. Also a single U/AC5 can't make up for the chassis lack of multiple missile launchers, that other Stalker chassis have. IMO you simply need to put an AC20 or Gauss here to not end up undergunned.

Since the gauss and heat scaling changes I've set mine up as more of a brawler with 4 medium lasers (arms) an LB-10X, an SRM 6 and an ER Large in the CT. Heat's not much of an issue, and once you get 'em to internals the LB-10X takes 'em down pretty quickly.
